Subban is Phaneufing this game.

Edit: His priorities appear to be to go for a big hit first, worry about defensive positioning second. Very ill-advised pinch there creates a Tampa 2-on-1.

They kind of had to call that. Killorn needs to keep his fucking stick down.
I was more bitching that it came right after the no-call on the punch. Not sure if you guys got that or not, I'm getting TB's broadcast.

Columbus blows a 3-1 lead; if they lose this game, the fans will be flipping covered wagons over in downtown Columbus.

Montreal also got away with some blatant interference during that PP. Typical.

I'm going to go with Palat for the game winner.

Edit: nope, Palat hurt.

Montreal had too many men, but the ref didn't want to call it so he just called offsides instead.

TB is fucking awful defensively. God I hope they manage to squeak by the Habs. The Bs would kill them.

Is there a more sour fan on the planet for a more winning team? Over the past 8 years, the Penguins have had the following point finishes in the Eastern Conference: 2nd, 1st, 2nd, t-2nd, 3rd, 4th, 2nd, t-3rd. That's eight years in a row in the top-4 and four years in a row in the top-2. That streak includes 1 Stanley Cup, 2 finals appearances, and an addition conference finals appearance. The team has iced and retained two different Hart winners and the best player in the world.

Their regular season finishes are meaningless.  It's singularly about the playoffs and since the Cup win, they've flamed out against Montreal, flamed out (after being up 3-1) against Tampa, been humiliated against Philadelphia, and been exposed by Boston in a complete and total domination (they never led a single second in the entire series) after winning two series against overmatched competition.

It's not being "sour;" it's being realistic.  The Penguins have been blessed with two generational talents in Crosby and Malkin and haven't capitalized as much as they could or should, same as when they had Lemieux and Jagr.

I can tolerate losing; winning the Cup is not going to happen every year, but flaming out in embarrassing fashion and then not learning anything from it is a systemic failure in the organization.  They want to keep running and gunning and playing braindead hockey like Kris Letang did tonight, and while that might work to beat the Columbuses of the world, the second they meet up with a Philadelphia or a Boston they'll get exposed again.  Again, that's not sour, it happens every time they play them.

I second the notion from Greg.  If you're considered a top-tier team like Pittsburgh is, the regular season finishes don't mean shit if you vastly underachieve in the playoffs.

I'm not quite seeing how the Penguins have vastly underachieved over the past 8 years, and certainly not in "embarrassing fashion". What teams have had a more success in the playoffs the past 8 years? Maybe the Blackhawks, but even they have two first round exits in the last 3 seasons.
