Fred in Lynn said:Oh, a front office discussion. I'm in therapy over that. Still, I have a hard time criticizing that choice. Couturier will play a long time in this league, and it's hardly clear that Hamilton is much better. Your position of need thing rings true, but on a long-term, organization-wide level. And I'm not upset they traded JVR, but that they accepted only Schenn in return. Yeah, Homer needs to retire.

Not at all - only that they didn't draft to fill a glaring need, and that the Bruins benefitted greatly from them passing on Hamilton. If anything, the bigger gaffe was Winnipeg drafting Mark Scheifele at #7 when he was projected to go mid-1st.
Had the Flyers drafted Hamilton, they could have kept JVR as Schenn would have been unnecessary. IMO a core including Hamilton/JVR is much better long-term than one with Luke Schenn/Couturier
Mason was a great pickup, but it was only possible (necessary) because they traded away Bob and hitched their wagon to Bryz.PedroSpecialK said:
I hear you - it wasn't a really lopsided trade from the 'challenge trade' angle on the surface, but L. Schenn looks like a player who would've really thrived in the pre-lockout NHL. Right now, he seems like a 2nd pairing guy on a good day, and panic-inducing on a bad one.up
Homer rolls the dice plenty, and with surprising efficacy - the Richards/Carter trades both turned out fantastic for Philly IMO, and buying low/fixing Mason looks like a big-time coup. That said, he's nothing if not entertaining.

"We had him in our top 5...and there he was."
Dougie starts playing thread...
PSK: "We have the Jets to thank for their obsession with Mark Scheifele. He was pegged to go somewhere 10-15, so him going 7 and the Flyers going with Couturier at 8 was huge for Boston."
You're nothing if not consistent my man.
“Anybody who saw this game tonight had to see this guy was outstanding. Not good. Outstanding,” Julien said. “He was so poised and confident. If anyone thinks he can’t play in this league, they should watch this game.”
Hamilton didn’t take a lot of joy in his milestone. “It was the first road game, pretty cool for it to be here and it was pretty nice to get that (point). But it sucks losing,” he said.
Yeah what was up with that?cshea said:How can the faceoff come outside? What?

I was referring to the puck getting stuck on the side of the net. I would think that's treated like the goalie covering a puck up.kenneycb said:Incorrect whistle on an icing.
Yup, love Eddie O "That's why the refs got together and got the call right." Try again Eddie, the right call was no icing, game over.PedroSpecialK said:... you can't blow the play dead for icing, then take the draw out to center ice.
That's called "making up rules"

Not sure but my guess is they treat that like a puck out of play. NY didn't touch the puck so I can see that though I'm just inferring there.cshea said:I was referring to the puck getting stuck on the side of the net. I would think that's treated like the goalie covering a puck up.

ForceAtHome said:Puck stuck on the net is always treated like it went out of play. Last team to touch it "put it out of play" effectively.
Also, on a blown icing call, they bring it to center. Both of those are standard.
