What about first half versus second half?Tatum's playoff rate was 16%. Regular season was 14%.
Too obvious.NBA.com and Basketball Reference all have some good stuff.
It's truly awesome that four guys liked Kuzma and Smith's rookie seasons better than Tatum's.This was probably mentioned in at least one of the other threads, but our boy came in 3rd in the ROY voting, garnering two second place votes, and appearing on 97 of the 101 ballots.

And Tatum is projected to have the highest WAR of any Celtic this coming year.538's CARMELO projections are out, and as far as I can tell, Tatum is projected to be the 4th most valuable player in the NBA over the next 5 years, behind only Simmons, Giannis and Harden.
He's projected to be more valuable than Steph Curry, Lebron, Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, etc.
Edit: Westbrook and Jokic are projected to be slightly more valuable. But still...
Check out at 5:20 the block of granite known as Semi Oyeleye curling off screens to shoot the threeball off the catch.
UNTOUCHABLE
And his defense is already in a different universe from Melo's.remember when:
-trading Fultz for Tatum + future pick was frowned upon
-Lebron blocking Tatum's initial shot was going to hurt his confidence
-expecting Tatum to produce after Gordon's injury was premature
-comparing Tatum to Robert Covington was dismissed
-Tatum would be done by midseason after hitting the rookie wall
-with Kyrie going down, there would be too much focus on Tatum and he'd be shut down
-a rookie, like Tatum, will struggle under the spotlight of the playoffs
-Game 7 ECF is too much pressure
With his work ethic, Tatum's ceiling is Durant, his floor is Carmelo.
Now we can add this to the Tatum "never" list:
FWIW, putting on a bunch of muscle is not necessary to get much stronger and more explosive. I'm actually excited by the idea that he might be going that route. Frankly, I think that a physique like Jaylen's is more useful to Tatum's game than one like Ojeleye/Crowder.Now we can add this to the Tatum "never" list:
"May never get physically bigger"
prediction: Tatum will put on 5-10lbs of muscle a year for the next 3 seasons. By 23 he'll be 230lbs and jacked.
Careful lovegtm, Silver and his henchman may swing by your place with tire irons in hand.
Jaylen is pretty jacked, so even getting to that would be a big deal for Tatum.FWIW, putting on a bunch of muscle is not necessary to get much stronger and more explosive. I'm actually excited by the idea that he might be going that route. Frankly, I think that a physique like Jaylen's is more useful to Tatum's game than one like Ojeleye/Crowder.
Yes, IMO the strength that is necessary to prevent the occasional ball strips on drives to the hoop can happen without bulk (a lot of that os technique as well), but some bulk would be incredible for his momentum towards the hoop. I mean, Lebron is the ultimate example of this. I don’t know that he can get there, nor do we necessarily want him to. But I won’t be upset if he moves incrementally across that spectrum.Isn't putting on muscle for Tatum largely about driving and absorbing contact so he can finish with higher success? Because once he gets there it's all over boys and girls.
He's 20. He's going to fill out over the next 5-6 years, it's what happens. It's just a question of how much, and how much of that will be muscle.Yes, IMO the strength that is necessary to prevent the occasional ball strips on drives to the hoop can happen without bulk (a lot of that os technique as well), but some bulk would be incredible for his momentum towards the hoop. I heard that concern many places, and it was always bizarre to me. We go on and on about the superior predictive value of FTs over 3P% for college players, and then everyone was worried that one of the best non-guard FT shooters, who also had excellent form, wouldn't be able to hit NBA 3s?It's wild to think a year ago at this time, a worry with Tatum was he might not have consistent three point range.
The dude posted another one with every FG Tatum made--it's an hour long. That's some high-quality hoop p*rn.
Nice shot though of Hanlen looking at Fultz’s jumper like “Well his check cleared so I have to at least pretend.”And they refused to show Fultzs jumpshot, even when he was taking them...
It's incredible how much effort was put into that editing to show everything but his shooting form. And they refused to show Fultzs jumpshot, even when he was taking them...
Hanlen probably promised Fultz that no one would be allowed to see anything until the shot was reworked and consistent. That seems like an obvious thing to do to help a guy who has some degree of nerves and has been scrutinized like crazy. It's incredible how much effort was put into that editing to show everything but his shooting form.
A Markelle chain of reasoning.Hanlen probably promised Fultz that no one would be allowed to see anything until the shot was reworked and consistent. That seems like an obvious thing to do to help a guy who has some degree of nerves and has been scrutinized like crazy.
i was thinking he looked a little less bulky than last year, which would be a good thing. If this basketball thing doesn't work you, Semi could find a payday in Foxboro as a TE or pass rusher.
If I am remembering the video correctly, it said Fultz first workout of the day was at 12:30pm...Cool video. But when he said “7 am to 11 pm. That’s the work you gotta put in to change your game” it makes it sound like Fultz is putting 12+ hour days and I was impressed.
I'm sure a Ben Simmons who could shoot would rate out better. But...Not sure about that A on defense, but still.
Ben Simmons upset he got same NBA2K19 rating as Tatum. lol
He's basically still a teenager and we know the work he's putting in. Putting on muscle for Tatum largely involves eating enough.Isn't putting on muscle for Tatum largely about driving and absorbing contact so he can finish with higher success? Because once he gets there it's all over boys and girls.
