Kids and Celtics games

Apologize if I missed it in a previous thread, but wanted to get some feedback on bringing kids to a Celtics game.

Background is that I completely and randomly lucked into amazing floor level seats on Sunday. Bringing my Celtics-obsessed 7 y/o. Coincidentally it happens to be “Kids Day”.

Looking to make this as memorable a day as possible. Anyone have any tips/tricks/experience re: Kids Day (what is it?) possibly getting autographs, going with kids in general, etc.

Thanks!

When the Wizards were down here in DC, I scored two floor seats for my 6 year old and I.

We did nothing special, however, sitting that close to the court was a game changer for him. Enjoy it!

Get there early.

Here's one thread on the subject: https://www.reddit.com/r/bostonceltics/comments/11f37wy/bringing_my_7_year_old_son_to_celtics_game_and/

With the premium seats, you get early access. It's my understanding that if you set up at the visitors' tunnel (if facing the benches, to the right of the visitors' bench), you'll have a decent chance to score some autographs.

The gates open 2 hours before if you have floor seats. Do you have access to the Putnam Club? What section are you in? Happy to talk through this. I was courtside last night and tonight, so happy to answer any questions.

Given it's Orlando on Sunday too, I'll keep an eye out tonight for any kids/player/coach interactions from either the Celtics or Magic side. Once you answer the above I can offer some suggestions.

Seats are at Section VIP7 and tickets also list Legends Restaurant access.

+1 to the bold. I grew up not following basketball at all (I was short and preferred other sports, and my parents didn't care), then in 99 my dad won a raffle prize which included a couple of floor seats to a celtics game. Literally a life changing experience for me, it's been my favorite sport ever since.

Awesome. This would be my plan:

- Game starts at 3
- Arrive at 1, go to a Boston Garden Society entrance. An easy one would be if you go to Hub Hall (great lunch spot if needed before 1), go to the back of it to exit, then take a right. The entrance is right there. Show the security guy your ticket, he'll let you in the side entrance go through security and you take an elevator to 3. Get out of the elevator and you are... by the locker rooms. Follow the signs, you'll pass the media room, probably see a bunch of basketballs and other stuff your 7 y/o will freak out from seeing in person. You are now walking in the same tunnels the players use. Wouldn't be shocking if you turn the corner and run into Horford.
- I'd go directly to the court. Players will be out there stretching/shooting around. The normal gates open 90 min before so the building will be mostly empty outside of the teams and you. It's pretty wild. Your seats are directly under the basket the Magic will be shooting on. Even if your seats aren't AA, I would go hang out there. Especially with a 7 year old. The odds of someone tossing them a basketball or saying hello are very high. I'll keep an eye out tonight. At some point the players will leave, but generally about an hour before the game everyone is out there shooting around, it's really cool. They will then leave about 45 min before the game. I'd highly recommend going to Putnam. Easy to get a drink and some food. They used to have a free buffet but scrapped it this year. Usually there is some free food/water around too. So my rough plan, get there 2 hours before, hang out on the floor for an hour or so, then go to the Putnam club grab some food/drink/bathroom.
- The other cool thing. Outside of the Putnam club is the visitors locker room. You will see the players huddling, jumping up and down, normal "in the tunnel stuff", while just causally enjoying your beverage. It's roped off, but you're 5 feet away. Your kid might get some high fives. So when the players leave to go to the locker room, you should go to Putnam. You'll be outside their locker room until they come out.
- You will not be able to go back to your seats while the players are in the tunnel. Once the players go they will let you go back in. I'd do that. It'll get you back in your seats about 10-15 min before game time. Now the stadium will be mostly full and the atmosphere is totally different.
- At halftime go back to the Putnam club if you want food/drink. They will have some free stuff to take with you. Your seats are the closest to the exit back to the Putnam club so you can front run everyone else.
- Enjoy the 2nd half.
- Your tickets let you go in the Putnam club after the game too. They will again have some free food/non-alcohol drinks. Great time to go back and chill while everyone else leaves the Garden.

ENJOY!!!! my kids are not old enough yet, but im incredibly jealous of the joy you'll experience. Take a ton of pictures/videos. It'll be a core memory -- let yourself get immersed in the game action.

I took my oldest daughter to her first game when she was 5 or 6. We sat in the very top row in the upper balcony and she had a blast. Basketball games are great for kids because there is always something going on even when there is a break in the action on the floor. Watching the Celtics Dancers during the commercial breaks is entertaining as is watching the random fans dancing and trying to get on the jumbotron. Being on the floor and super close to the action will be an added bonus. My kids always love going to Celtics games. They are relatively quick and action packed. Have fun!

So first things first… I was wrong the buffet is still there in the Putnam club. So if you get there at 1 and want to eat lunch you can. If you eat lunch before and want to go in to the court, there’s a ton of free food during the game. At halftime they had mini boxes of pizza, cookies, popcorn, waters to take if you wanted (or cash bar for Dad). Same thing after the game but also ice cream (individual wrapped).

more importantly - we were there 2 hours before the game. I’d say there were 100 people in the garden for the first 30 minutes - 3 of them were Paolo, Mo Wagner and Sam Hauser. You should be able to go front row and watch. We went to our actual seats but no one was checking anything. They’ll help you if you need assistance but no one was giving a hard time. We stayed out on the court until 50 minutes before the game, went to the Putnam club and had dinner from the buffet. After eating we grabbed our drinks and stood outside while waiting to see the players leave the locker room. Once they did we went back in.

You’re going to have a blast. Paolo was tossing the ball back and forth with a 5 year old after his shot bounced off the rim and landed in the kids area. Here if you have any questions but enjoy!!!
