Was out there yesterday, and wanted to give a few thoughts:
1. Not sure I’m completely with the “it’s over” crowd about Brooks, but I’ll agree that it’s all about him after that round. He looks absolutely in control of himself/his game, and he’s one of the only players getting the speed of the greens right.
2. No one else is getting the speed of the greens right. Felt like every uphill putt was left short. Sometimes really short. I hung out for a good 90+ minutes on the hill in back of the 8th hole and watched 7 or 8 groups leave every single putt short of the hole. Sometimes by a lot.
If Brooks doesn’t run away and hide, my money is on Day. I only saw him on about four holes, but, man did he make some shots. (His recovery on 15 after a terrible tee shot was ridiculous.) Unfortunately, his putting was awful.
