In 2014 he hit .244. Had he been able to get 2 more ABs and recorded hits in both of then, he would have hit .247.
He's played 6 years in the majors, 5 full ones, 3000 plate appearances--and he's only hit over .247 once. Yet his career average is .248 because he hit .279 as a rookie.
