Moral of the story, kids, is don't fuck up the playoffs when you have a historically good team for one season only.

I very much enjoy watching Taylor Hall play hockey. I already dislike this deal and hate that it has to be done after such an awful exit from the playoffs.

I will wait to see what the return is to say more, but if it is just a salary dump so they can keep Bertuzzi, I really hate it (even though I like Bertuzzi just fine).

(Edit: Posted before my extra no content post got copied over, but I am leaving it)

Foligno is a UFA so that doesn't do anything for us. Guessing Chicago wants him as the veteran to mentor Bedard.

I liked Hall as a Bruin a lot. But if 37 walks away, I might be sitting out the season anyway. I'm very much not over the 22-23 nutpunch.

I imagine it gives the slightest of bumps in value on the Bruins' side as the Hawks can now lock down Foligno in advance. Don't vets occasionally get a late round pick, essentially for negotiating rights?

Dang, I loved watching Hall play and as others mentioned he actually produced in the postseason. I understand why Tuzzi's being discussed here but I wouldn't conflate the two players just yet. IOW, if Tuzzi goes too then there's not much point in discussing his pros and cons in the Hall thread.

Seven teams now for a former number 1 pick, with nearly 700 career points. Pretty interesting career.

I guess this is the way now with salary restrictions.

I really don't know what people expected. Not having to attach a pick to it is a win in my book.

He's a $6M AAV 3rd line player with 36 points last year. I'd have loved to keep him, but at that price he's a luxury.

Not surprised at all. And even though I like Hall as a player, this is a move they had to make.

Everyone knows that the Bruins have to clear money, and they have no futures to pin to the guys that they would rather move.

Ryan Johansen got traded for nothing a few days ago. This is what happens when you have to dump significant salary. You get nothing.

It’s fine. You need the space and he’s not part of your next core. I like Taylor Hall and think he was good for the Bs, but you clear the space you need to build your team this year without giving up any picks.

I know you're right. It's just a bummer.

Sad to see him go, he was fun to watch and produced in the playoffs. At least relief we didn’t have to attach a pick.

Salary cap sucks, when you’re an above average size market like we are.

Hope the young guys develop.

Maybe we get lucky and kne of the RFAs ends up a late bloomer who can actually play.
Mitchell played for Montgomery at Denver so I suspect he'll be around in some capacity. I don't know much about Regula. 3rd round pick by Detroit in 2018.

Both are RHD, where the Bruins are thin at the pro level. McAvoy, Carlo....Ryan Mast!

Guess the signed Taylor Hall photo gets relegated to "space filler" status.

I liked Hall, liked his playing style, particularly in person. But I'm okay with this so long as they fill the spot with a kid.

I like this. He soon will be 32, he's due to be paid ~$5-6M each of the next two seasons, and he disappears for long stretches of games. I'm interested in seeing how they spend the money they've freed. I have no expectations that Regula or Mitchell will ever crack the starting 6/7.

But he’s scoring 60 pts per year even while disappearing for long stretches and is only singed for 2 more years; so concerns about age are mitigated by that. Bertuzzi is looking at a potentially long contract that brings is age into question.

I wish someone would have given a middle round pick for Hall. Ah well, gotta give Sweeney the benefit of the doubt.

They didn't sign Bertuzzi yet so no use killing him for something that may or may not happen. They had to move money regardless.

Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno go to CHI for Alec Regula and Ian Mitchell. Remember: Jim Montgomery had Mitchell at NCAA Denver
