You know you had a tough day when Sandy Lyle beats you by 7 on the dayHorschel goes 67-85
Absolutely. He's not out of it by any means. It's Friday night, not Saturday night. In this tournament, I don't think you can count someone out who is 8 or 9 shots back just yet. Rory could finish tomorrow and have the weather turn to shit in an instant and crucify the leaders still on the course.
Actually, don't forget that Paul Lawrie was 10 back with one round to go at Carnoustie and won. If the wind is blowing, anything can happen at the Open.Absolutely. He's not out of it by any means. It's Friday night, not Saturday night.
There are only so many groups on the course that early. The guys that are actually playing well won't tee off for a bit.Jesus, can't wait for Spieth and Watson to finish their rounds so we don't have to keep watching them spray balls all over the place. Let's go, guys who actually have a chance to finish well are on the course. Let's see them NBC.
You don't see the leaders doing that often but these guys DO make really bad swings sometimes. It makes me feel better about my duct tape and prayers swing.Day with a shank out of the rough. They showed a super slow motion of it hitting the hosel. It made me cringe.
He had a bogey free round going too and had moved to -5DJ is the next guy headed towards a large number on 11. Drove into the gorse, took an unplayable, then his 4th shot went right back into the gorse.
With how he hits his 3 wood, I'm surprised he ever hits the driverStop hitting driver, Henrik.
Especially at Troon. It's an odd choice by him. With how he hits his 3 wood, I'm surprised he ever hits the driver
Phil has no idea where his tee shots are going. Fantastic recovery shot out of the gorse on 12. Needs to keep scrambling.Wow, Phil got lucky on his horrible drive on 11. Lot of leaking oil at the top, but no one is making a charge from below.
Yeah, if I were building an 'all-star' course featuring the best holes in the world I think I would include 11 at Troon.I really like Troon. Obviously it is too easy without wind, but it is a fun natural course, and with a ton of interesting little quirks. Lots of birdies out there even in wind, but then almost every hole has some bite (some a whole lot of bite), if you hit a bad shot. the greens has some break, but are basically easy.
10 $ !1 are just absolutely fantastic golf holes.
Some massive scrambling by him today. That new grip has made a world of difference for him on the greens. Should be a fun finish tomorrow but Stensen's caddie should forget to put the driver in the bag tomorrow and make him hit 3 wood all day.Stenson plays an amazing round today, you have to figure he is the favorite heading into tomorrow by a good bit. Lot's of pressue on him though
Phill played about 77+ golf today, He was absolutely all over the course all day. So it was absolutely amazing he was able to get in at 70
Current forecast is for the opposite, actually:And that's how it ends. So barring calm morning weather and 30 mph winds in the afternoon, it's a two man match play on Sunday
It's not out of the realm of possibility but it's hard to imagine because it's two of them. One of them might fold, but probably not both.Wind is going to be something for the last groups. They may simply be too far in front to bring any other contenders into play, but I would not be shocked if the top two come back to the field.
