Trier went into hero mode and it killed them.Arizona's offensive execution starting with about 4 minutes left was awful.

This tournament couldn't be breaking any better for the Zags. It's hard to be an under-the-radar 35-1 team but they basically are given the attention being paid to the lower part of the bracket and all the future NBA talent there. One of Gonzaga/Xavier/Baylor/Florida/South Carolina/Wisconsin will be playing for the national title on April 3rd.
The best four teams left might all be in the other half (Kansas/UNC/Kentucky/UCLA).One of Gonzaga/Xavier/Baylor/Florida/South Carolina/Wisconsin will be playing for the national title on April 3rd.
You mean 3 in a row? FSU may have been seeded too high, but Xavier has beaten a 3 and a 2.I don't see Xavier doing it two games in a row. Still, no team is better than Xavier at beating better seeds. Their record is just crazy in the tournament.
Definitely not a typical 11 seed. They've beaten some extremeley good teams the past two games. Arizona was a title contender and rightfully so, they have a stellar team.As I said upthread somewhere, Xavier should scare lots of teams. They were an early season top 15 team who lost their best player and had to sort through lineups, rotation, etc. in-season. Mack has apparently figured it out...great coach.
This is not a typical 11 seed.
It's hard to argue Gonzaga doesn't belong in that group. West Virginia was ranked 6 overall by KenPom. According to KenPom's rankings, West Virginia was by far the best team among the four that lost last night (Arizona is ranked 18th). The Zags proved their worthiness among the elite contenders with their win last night. The best four teams left might all be in the other half (Kansas/UNC/Kentucky/UCLA).
Sort of reminds of '99 West Elite 8 game. Number 1 seed who everyone kept saying will they ever make the Final Four against the double digit Cinderella .Xavier scares me since Gonzaga is going to be exhausted after the WVU game plus the whole Cinderella thing...
The one thing Gonzaga has going for it is they are an amazing defensive team. They contested 54 of the 60 shots WVU took last night and was able to win the game despite turning the ball over 17 times and giving up 20 offensive rebounds
