I think Reid was trying to cover for Mahomes; he was doubling down so the spotlight is on the coach, and not the QB. I don’t see an issue with him doing that.

Language police ALERT.

Can we all please refrain from using "ticky tack" when referring to penalties, particularly ones like offsides, which can be easily measured. Either you're over the friggin line or you're not, and if you are, it's a penalty. Period. There's nothing 'ticky tack' about following the rules of the game, and using the phrase, especially in this case, only gives succor to the arguments of those committing the infractions-- "You see, even you called it ticky tack! It should have never been called!"
F*** that noise. I'm so sick and tired of people making excuses about why pre-established, mutually agreed upon rules shouldn't apply to them. It's sickening.

ALERT ended.

Also, while the offside had no bearing on the play, what about an alternate universe where Toney is running a go route and just beats the corner off the line and has like a foot of separation when he makes the catch? Would ANYONE argue that it was a "ticky-tack" penalty in that case? Hell no. And of course, the officials have no idea what the play will be before it is run. So they really HAVE to throw the flag on a play like that. Imagine how mad Buffalo would have been if my scenario played out and there was no flag.

Or, going back 5 years ago, imagine how bullshit it would have been if Dee Ford had barely gotten around the edge and sacked Brady because he had a head start.

I think he’s also trying to cover for Toney a bit too.

I would be surprised if he was being lit up inside the building. The mental mistakes he consistently makes have really cost the team.

EDIT: I just saw that the longest play for Toney this year is 18 yards. Yeesh, that is really bad

I would have loved to see Josh Allen's face when he said that. If Allen didn't visibly react, I would never want to play poker against that guy. If Mahomes had said it to me, I wouldn't have resisted laughing in his face.
We're only really getting the side views, but Allen mostly looks taken aback by Mahomes' crying. I can't say I blame him - we've seen players/coaches yell at the refs during and after games and we've seen players/coaches criticize calls after the game from the podium or the locker room, but we've never seen a player so loudly complain about a call during the post game handshake with the opponent. Allen doesn't really know what to do, nor should he.

I don't understand your point?
Just that I think it's dumb that tackles can line up 2-3 yards behind the center. Basically that their whole line is a mess. But I wasn't trying to contradict anything you were saying. That dude is obviously way offsides.

Ah I thought you were commenting on the receivers, not the tackles. I get what you're saying.

Ticky tack penalties aside, any new whether Kelce's lateral was a tribute to Frank Wycheck? The timing was impeccable.

This play tarnished Harry's tremendous career.
In all honesty, if that score stands, the Pats get home field advantage, and win the Super Bowl, I think the whole narrative of his career swings closer to Sony Michel’s. In other words, “yeah, but he produced during that one playoff run.”

edit: I know your post was a joke in response to Mahomme’s comment on last night’s play diminishing Kelce’s hall of fame career, but officials shouldn’t make plays based on the impact to the star players. It’s the lesser players (like Harry) whose reputations (and performance bonuses) need to be protected through a uniform and fair application of the rules for everyone.

Just saw that Tua hospital ball, geez... Orlovosky hyping up the throw.... uh yeah Dan, not realizing that's a terrible idea even if he fit it in is why you weren't in the NFL long

This is the best the giants have looked in 30 years.

referring to the uniforms. I love the jersey look and the helmet design. Straight outta the LT days

I’ve seen a DT read a screen like that in high school, but professional O-linemen generally do a better job than that selling the play. Of course you’d hope Levis sees what happened and throws the ball away, but that’s not just on him.

DeVito was a below average college QB. It really shows that there’s a ton of guys who could play in the NFL if they got a chance.

Granted, they’d play poorly, like DeVito. But still.
