That looks like a franchise-crippling decision. Given their owner, I’m good with it. Young is just horrendous.

Carr’s $30M salary for 2024 is guaranteed, and an additional $40M becomes guaranteed in March. The Saints can cut him before that extra $40M vests, but they’ll take a $52.8M dead-cap hit in 2024. It’s a big decision; they want all the data points they get. Also, if Carr plays reasonably well, maybe someone will think they can fix Carr and trade for him this offseason, which would pare the Saints’ dead cap number back to $22.8M.
