Yeah, the defender wandered into no man’s land (didn’t even make an aggressive move to stop the ball) and left the back door wide open.Houston/Wichita State was bonkers. Hilariously bad defense on the game winning dunk.
Great game. Third higher rated team in the past couple of weeks. And that piece of shit Calipari had his bench walk off with time on the clock.Woo Pig!!!! Beating Kentucky never ever gets old! All aboard the MussBus LFG!!
I forget who the coach was years ago who did this but he said it was to protect his players from fans storming the court.Great game. Third higher rated team in the past couple of weeks. And that piece of shit Calipari had his bench walk off with time on the clock.
Roy Williams did it in 2012 (I think) when UNC got housed by Florida St. in Tallahassee. And yes that was the reasoning offered.I forget who the coach was years ago who did this but he said it was to protect his players from fans storming the court.
I think stuff like this is more common than we think bc many times it goes unnoticed.Roy Williams did it in 2012 (I think) when UNC got housed by Florida St. in Tallahassee. And yes that was the reasoning offered.
Great story! Do you mind if I share this on the URI message board?I think stuff like this is more common than we think bc many times it goes unnoticed.
Funny story told to me by Tommy Garrick about when he was playing professionally in Spain one year. They lose a road game at the buzzer on a 3-point shot that was clearly after the buzzer. Home crowd is going berserk as they rush into the safety of the locker room. During the fracas the officials are reviewing the play, or gathering to discuss, I don’t recall specifics. They immediately send one of them to the locker room to tell Garrick’s team to grab their stuff and get on their bus to bolt of town. As they are running onto the bus the team hears the announcement that the shot didn’t count and the home team lost……followed by boos and screams he said that were louder than anything they heard that night.
Well here we are with URI falling flat on their face again this season, and the consensus is that David Cox is done after this season. Interestingly both Jeff Borzello and Jeff Goodman have heard Archie Miller to URI whispers, though Goodman says he doesn't think that will happen because Miller could do better.I'm jealous of all of you that have something to look forward to this season. As a Rhode Island fan this season only matters in determining the fate of our head coach. Do we show enough that David Cox gets extended (only has one more year after this one left) or does he continue to dismantle everything Dan Hurley built and we move on. Truly underwhelming times in Kingston.
Yes absolutely. If Tommy read it he’d surely laugh.Great story! Do you mind if I share this on the URI message board?
Beware of Charleston Southern catching a ho-hum UNCA team looking ahead. Same thing tonight with Georgetown against Seton Hall.PSA: Some conference tournaments are underway, so we have daytime basketball today courtesy of the Big South. (9) North Carolina A&T vs (8) Radford tips at 11:30 AM ET followed by (12) Charleston Southern vs (5) UNC Ashville at 2:00 ET. Both on ESPN+.
Wow, you called it. UNCA led the whole game but couldn't quite bury Charleston Southern. Southern took a 1-point lead with ~24 seconds left; UNCA converted free throws to go back up by 1 with 6.8 seconds left. Charleston Southern misses a three coming back the other way but puts back up the rebound as time expires for the victory. After going 1-15 in conference play.Beware of Charleston Southern catching a ho-hum UNCA team looking ahead. Same thing tonight with Georgetown against Seton Hall.
And the Buccanneers catch Asheville napping as 10.5 pt dogs and +540 on the money line! Up next…..Patrick and the Hoyas!Beware of Charleston Southern catching a ho-hum UNCA team looking ahead. Same thing tonight with Georgetown against Seton Hall.
iUPUI hung in their last night in similar spot. There is historically a strong correlation to the “beyond awful last place team” with a first-round competitive game. The bad team is typically up for their first meaningful game in awhile while they are matched up with a typical .500 team (now that the upper echelon teams now have first round byes) who is looking past them to tomorrow game. It’s these “.500 teams” that aren’t good enough to get awhile with looking ahead past anyone. Georgetown fits the mold here vs Seton Hall to a tee.Wow, you called it. Well isn’t that a big oopsie!!! Maybe their keep covering tonight I’ve done well with them lately.Good pick with Charleston Southern. Seton Hall and Georgetown is a regular season game though.
That was a tense game. I thought it was over when Williams fouled out.Whew Pig Sooie! Hogs avoided the trap with some clutch free throws. Gave up 22 offensive rebounds and got out-shot by 18 and still won! Muss 4 lyfe!
Another one, with #12 Little Rock dropping #5 South Alabama in the Sun Belt. I didn't know about this phenomenon, but I'm an instant believer.iUPUI hung in their last night in similar spot. ESPN has Coach K-related coverage most of the day tomorrow. Should be a great atmosphere. We don't have a dedicated Duke/UNC/ACC thread this year, but it's Coach K's final game in Cameron tomorrow vs. UNC. 6pm on ESPN. To say it will be emotionally charged would be an understatement.
Interesting, I didn’t know they could request. Seems unlikely though.ESPN has Coach K-related coverage most of the day tomorrow. Should be a great atmosphere.
Also, if for some reason Duke gets the #1 overall seed they requested to be put in the Midwest Regional which is in his hometown of Chicago.
The NCAA asks everyone their preferred destination in the event they get the 1 seed. Yes very unlikely.Interesting, I didn’t know they could request. Seems unlikely though.
Go ACC network but yeah this is patheticI can’t believe ESPN didn’t allow more time between games here. K’a last game is about to get relegated to ESPN News and we don’t get to see any pregame.
