And now he's back. Love this for a lot of reasons, but also because the last time he played, he looked good.I think if there’s one thing about Malcolm Butler that we’ve learned is that he has elite or near-elite talent but also some undefined personal issues that have prevented him from consistently realizing that talent. It was why he didn’t go to a top program and why he ended up being a UDFA. It was the reason he abruptly retired. And it’s most likely at least part of the reason why he was benched in the Super Bowl.
It’s sad, honestly, because who isn’t rooting for the guy after what he did and where he came from? Which is partly why, even if I suspect it’s a long shot, it would be so awesome if he came back to where it all started and had success.
Guess the rumors of why he got in a fight with a coach weren’t true.Malcolm did alright in the long run, didn't he? SB hero, Pro Bowler, 2x SB winner, got his bag with the Titans, and he's back. Guess there were no hard feelings for SB 52 after all.
Most posts in here are pumping the brakes, no one thinks he's JCJ.It's good to have him back, but let's pump the brakes on him.
No idea how good he is anymore,
We’ll see…
I have no idea if he can still play
Yeah I know, I'm just saying as a fanbase. It's an exciting move, but he's one of a group in a competition. Most posts in here are pumping the brakes, no one thinks he's JCJ.
I don't remember James White retiring. That would be a pretty big difference here.Yes, but also: missing one year sucks but players do that all the time because of injury. Are we saying the same thing about James White? Should we be?
No one is saying he's going to be Mr. Goalline INT. But he has a pretty recent track record of playing well, if inconsistently. That's what I'm expecting.
Right, but Butler retired for undisclosed personal reasons, not because he was cooked. That's all I'm saying.I don't remember James White retiring. That would be a pretty big difference here.
Well I'm guessing this makes the shift complete to much more zone than man for the 2022 season. But, to follow your point, Gilmore is still unsigned. If BB can charm Revis and Browner...
I mean, it hasn't really in every following year so I don't know why now receivers would be wary of him. I sincerely hope it works out, he is easy to root for and I'm am very glad at the very least this will allow him to always have a home with the Pats.I bet there isn't a receiver who isn't aware of his Super Bowl play....his reputation may serve him well
He doesn’t seem to have a market. Would love him on a one year, $8-10M prove it type of deal.Well I'm guessing this makes the shift complete to much more zone than man for the 2022 season. But, to follow your point, Gilmore is still unsigned.
I'm in.He doesn’t seem to have a market. Would love him on a one year, $8-10M prove it type of deal.

Bit of a red flag that his recovery from his 2020 quad injury has not progressed as well as hoped.Seems like Pats had pegged Gilmore's market correctly in-season doesn't it?
And he turns 32 in September. Nobody is giving him big, multi-year money, I don’t think. He probably should have taken whatever deal the Pats were offering.Bit of a red flag that his recovery from his 2020 quad injury has not progressed as well as hoped.
I mean, I’m not consumed by it. But I’d kinda of like to know.Very happy about this.
Only downside is two years of shitheads asking Butler about why he didn't play in that game.
