Maybe he'll be an even better hitter as a DH? Is he an overpriced DH? Yeah. But they have the money. Lefty mashers are still valuable.A lot to like about the future, but I really worry about the devers contract
Not to mention the fly ball off the wall Yoshida coulda/shoulda had. That was a makeable play for Casas as well.
Chapman would be a really good fit. But he'd be a good fit in the Bidet as well, and the Red Sox won't get into a bidding war. What about letting Turner walk, moving Devers to DH, and signing Matt Chapman?
He is who we thought he was. We've really let Javier off the hook.
You have to keep Devers. I would have no problem trading Casas and/or Masa.Chapman would be a really good fit. But he'd be a good fit in the Bidet as well, and the Red Sox won't get into a bidding war.
Besides, if you move Devers to DH, where are Yoshida and Casas going to play?
Yeah I don’t think they’re scoring again tonight. Would love to be wrong, obviously. We've really let Javier off the hook.
It's a problem. At least the other two can get better. It's too early to give up on Yoshida being able to play competent outfield. There were times last year when we would have said Duran is hopeless. I know it's different because Masa has experience in the Japanese league, but he still could end up ok.Besides, if you move Devers to DH, where are Yoshida and Casas going to play?
I uhh definitely want nothing to do with trading Masa right nowYou have to keep Devers. I would have no problem trading Casas and/or Masa.
Why are you trading Casas one very promising year into his career?I would have no problem trading Casas and/or Masa.
Casas is young enough to feel not entirely pessimistic about improvement on D. Yoshida…well, we suffered Manny.Chapman would be a really good fit. But he'd be a good fit in the Bidet as well, and the Red Sox won't get into a bidding war.
Besides, if you move Devers to DH, where are Yoshida and Casas going to play?
Because he's a DH. Raffi is a DH. Masa is a DH. One of them has to go. They are not trading Devers. Ans Casas would bring the best value. Why are you trading Casas one very promising year into his career?
Only one who really fucked it was Devers swinging way out of the zone but otherwise yeah, just need some better results. Astros pen soon however. They have the right strategy. Be patient and wait for Javier to leave something in the zone. It’s just the contact has been weak pop ups.
Just playing devil's advocate here but ... why? The system, or so we keep hearing, is loaded with infielders who can hit and play defense. I mean, it's extremely unlikely they would consider moving Devers, but I don't think the concept is worth rejecting out of handYou have to keep Devers.
Pitch clock, man. Momentum is a thing in baseball now. When a pitcher is in a groove, it hurts the offense to have to get back in the box so quick. When the pitcher has stress, it snowballs quick. It has completely changed baseball.Paxton showing some life. Working a bit quicker. Easier when you don't let guys on base
This is where I am. If you can trade devers to a team who can slot him at dh or 1b, I think you have to explore that. Tons of young pieces and a good farm…and post devers trade plenty of money to play withJust playing devil's advocate here but ... why? I think if you trade any of those guys it has to be Yoshida, but that looks unlikely after year 1 of a 5 year deal. Devers and Casas splitting DH & 1B is livable if you upgrade defense at 3B and LF.Because he's a DH. Raffi is a DH. Masa is a DH. One of them has to go. They are not trading Devers. Ans Casas would bring the best value.
But, I doubt they do any of that and we'll be bitching about the bad defense next year.
Well, if the price was right???Just playing devil's advocate here but ... why? The system, or so we keep hearing, is loaded with infielders who can hit and play defense. I mean, it's extremely unlikely they would consider moving Devers, but I don't think the concept is worth rejecting out of hand
And the year after that and…Because he's a DH. Raffi is a DH. Masa is a DH. One of them has to go. They are not trading Devers. Ans Casas would bring the best value.

I wonder who would take him now without significant cash going the other way. Yankees are off the table.Just playing devil's advocate here but ... why? Yeah, it worked out, but a 3-0 bunt against a guy who is 36 strikes in 70 pitches is kind of a brain fart. Oh well, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.Even in that defensive aligntment a 3-0 bunt is stupid
Playing some stupid ball tonight
