Look, I know we're disappointed, but the kid has zero motivation at this stage of his career to be indifferent to the outcomes of his pitching.uncaring like so many others

Probably figured they are getting shut out by Glasnow anyway, so why bother? What's Bello's problem? Too many innings, or uncaring like so many others?
Makes me more curious about that long conversation Bloom had with Verdugo at Fenway.Apparently the use of the wall by LHH was all about Verdugo. Have we seen a player get in Cora’s doghouse before? Hanley?
I probably should cut the younger guys some slack, but my "slack cutting" pretty much ran out after the ASB.Look, I know we're disappointed, but the kid has zero motivation at this stage of his career to be indifferent to the outcomes of his pitching.
One way not to get scapegoated is to not suck. Verdugo has had a pretty terrible September. If you cherry pick back into August right after he had that mini-explosion of 9 hits in 3 games, he's got a .468 OPS.Guys like Bloom and Verdugo are definitely being set up as scapegoats.
Last night they came back, until Murphy walked two guys later in the game and Winck gave up a single. It’s hilarious that every time I check the score after they’ve started they are always losing. With no chance of coming back.
It's so weird. Early in the season he was walking and looked like he was going to post a high OBP but he just stopped walking. Is there anything that Masa does particularly well? What a disappointment. He's been fine. But we need a little better than fine out of the guy.
2 walks in September? How the fuck is that even possible? It's the fucking 27th.
Wow. You came real close. Yoshida grounded to 1st, Dalbec and Valdez struck out. Impressive.Yoshida groundout to second base, Dalbec strikeout, Valdez strikeout
Smells a little fishy to meWow. You came real close. Yoshida grounded to 1st, Dalbec and Valdez struck out. Impressive.
He's been one of the best hitters on the team recently. He hit a double last night. Review the recent games---you expect him to be the best hitter on the team? Most people expect that of Devers, who is powerful, but often disappointing (0-5 last night). Geez, you guys kill me. It's all What Have You Done for me Lately? Is there anything that Masa does particularly well? What a disappointment. He's been fine. But we need a little better than fine out of the guy.

HmmmWhat's with Bello giving up so many home runs lately?
It's been such a stark contrast. It will be interesting to see how he does next year with the experience under his belt. He seems like the kind of guy that will make the adjustments. I'm glad they got him. He's been one of the best hitters on the team recently. He hit a double last night. Review the recent games---you expect him to be the best hitter on the team? The first half of the year he was one of the best hitters in all of baseball.
I don't think it's a what have you done for me lately. If you take any player's best stretch they will look great. But we have a year (well almost) of Masa now, and he's just ok. He is not very valuable from a wins perspective and doesn't do anything very well. He's a minus defender. He's a somewhat better than average hitter. His super power could and should have been getting on base, but he's just completely pissed it away in brutal fashion. He's been one of the best hitters on the team recently. I really would like to see the club set up so guys can make adjustments in-season. I mean it's happened but so many guys have seemed to have flat stretches for so long. It's been such a stark contrast. He seems like a decent guy. Did he mentor any players in particular this year? I thought I read something about that, but can't recall at the moment.I really love JT. Unabashedly so. He should absolutely do one more year. I will die on that hill.
Intangibles.
I agree with you and am optimistic about Masa's hit tool. But you pretty much have the same attitude about Devers, often calling him disappointing and "0-5 last night" might strike some as a What Have You Done for me Lately? They can both be good. He's been one of the best hitters on the team recently. He hit a double last night. Review the recent games---you expect him to be the best hitter on the team? Without knowing, I would think that he has been a really good influence on Casas. He seems like a decent guy. Did he mentor any players in particular this year? I thought I read something about that, but can't recall at the moment.
Cora did that so that the home crowd could provide a big send off for his last game in Fenway (this year?).I have the game on mute. Why did they remove Turner from the game in the middle of an inning?
He's walked 7 times from July 1 on ... for an everyday player, that's improbable at best. Plus, his first half, second half splits are telling ... in that he doesn't seem to have made the adjustments to MLB pitching that pitchers have made to him.I don't think it's a what have you done for me lately. They said Cora wanted him to get a hand from the fans on the last game at home (Since it might be a one and done with the Sox)I have the game on mute. Why did they remove Turner from the game in the middle of an inning?
Oh, I meant to say about Devers that if you want to play the "Lately" game you can play it with him, too, the best hitter on the team.I agree with you and am optimistic about Masa's hit tool. But you pretty much have the same attitude about Devers, often calling him disappointing and "0-5 last night" might strike some as a What Have You Done for me Lately? They can both be good.

We'll see, and I hope so too. One thing that's pretty interesting is that his second half strike outs have not changed too dramatically. He's had about 14 more in his second half (by PAs) thank his first half. That's not nothing, but doesn't seem to scream out that he's lost his batter's eye. I know that lots goes into taking bases on balls, but he's making plenty of contact and obviously seeing the ball well enough to do that. He's just swinging at everything. He's walked 7 times from July 1 on ... for an everyday player, that's improbable at best. Plus, his first half, second half splits are telling ... in that he doesn't seem to have made the adjustments to MLB pitching that pitchers have made to him.
He's not a lost cause by any means, and I'm hopeful his second season will be better.
Tampa will sign him, straighten out his strike out issues, and he'll torture us for the next few years.Dalbec's massive trade value growing smaller
The last several home stands have been pretty brutal. Tough way to send your fans off for the winter today. The fans who showed up deserve better than the white flag after 6.
Didn’t Dalbec say when he came back that he had figured it up? I assumed he meant hitting.Tampa will sign him, straighten out his strike out issues, and he'll torture us for the next few years.
If they continue to have the fan get together in Springfield during the winter with John Henry , Kennedy etc THAT could be interesting. They got booed last time and not much has changed in the standings. The last several home stands have been pretty brutal. Tough way to send your fans off for the winter today.
He's been ok. Small sample, and 6 of his 8 or whatever games have been against pretty good teams.Didn’t Dalbec say when he came back that he had figured it up? I assumed he meant hitting.
