I choose to blame Mitchell Trubisky and Sean Payton. If it weren’t for our idiot kicker, we’d be locked into the second pick. Go Commanders!
4-13, #3 feels about right. Commanders are pretty lucky if they end up #2 at 4-13.

I was just going to post this. Pats are on the clock at #3.After some brief optimism regarding the Commanders nice start against Dallas, it appears the Cowboys have settled down and the Patriots are going to be drafting #3.
This gives as a shot at either MHJ or one of the top 3 (as of now) QBs on the board--Williams, Maye, Daniels. Assuming we don't trade down, it gives our resident draftniks an easier job evaluating potential 1st rounders. Looking forward to reading what everyone thinks.
What planet are we on where they’re getting #6 for BB?I was just going to post this. Pats are on the clock at #3.
If we also get #6 from LA it’s going to be fun what people talk about regarding how we use both picks. Do you take MJH and trade the other? Do you try to take MJH and reach a bit at one of the “non-big-3” QB’s at #6?
If you get it, do you trade #6 for #4 and try to take both MJH and Daniels or Maye (at #3 and #4, whichever of the two falls)?
Do you try to snag Daniels/Maye at #3 and then Nabers or Odunze at #6?
I know - let’s get #6 first. But we could get young and pretty good pretty fast if BB is traded for a high pick at the same time we have #3.
We're not getting #6.I was just going to post this. Pats are on the clock at #3.

Trade to LA. A member here is saying that’s the rumor he’s heard from contacts close to Chip Kelly. What planet are we on where they’re getting #6 for BB?
For purposes of this post, say the LAC would be willing to deal and BB willing to go there--I don't think we'd get a #1 unless we sent a pick back. It's more likely to be a 2nd or 3rd rounder.Trade to LA. A member here is saying that’s the rumor he’s heard from contacts close to Chip Kelly.
If that’s true - big if, obviously - it would have to be via trade. And if CK is really talking about it, then a trade has already been worked out. If it’s already been worked out, you’d have to think RKK jumped at the high pick from LA.
Lots of “ifs,” but I made that clear in my post.
Yeah I think all of the talk about past compensation miss some things.... yes Bill is the best coach ever, BUT... the other guys were not about to get fired. Bill had "quit", Payton was "retired", and Gruden was locked in and Davis wasn't letting him go (refused once) until TB missed on Parcells and came back with that enormous offer. It's seemed pretty clear Kraft doesn't want to keep Bill, and that Bill is unlikely to "quit", so a lot of leverage lost thereFor purposes of this post, say the LAC would be willing to deal and BB willing to go there--I don't think we'd get a #1 unless we sent a pick back. The first rounder the Broncos traded was the 30th pick, not the 6th. Getting the Chargers second rounder is closer to that compensation than the 6th pick.Denver traded a first and a third for Peyton.
I know he’s younger, but if Sean Payton can net a 1st *and* a 3rd, are we sure the greatest coach in NFL history, with six Super Bowls as a head coach alone, for a team desperate not to waste Justin Herbert’s career, wouldn’t net a first?
If Arizona pulls this out and KC holds on that Chargers picks becomes a 4.3 and 6 (I know its unlikely). MHJ and Penix Jr please.
I know you're young around here but try to be realistic BB Is not netting the Pats a first round pick and definitely not the 6th pick. Why wouldn't the Chargers simply wait until Kraft fires BB? What's their rush?Denver traded a first and a third for Peyton.

That he trades him to Washington or Dallas instead.I know you're young around here but try to be realistic BB Is not netting the Pats a first round pick and definitely not the 6th pick. Why wouldn't the Chargers simply wait until Kraft fires BB? What's their rush?
Kraft can't just trade Belichick without his say. It's not like a player trade. That he trades him to Washington or Dallas instead.
yeah, you can't spend weeks making it pretty clear through the press that you're done with the guy then expect to get much for him. If you're bringing in a new regime and you have a top 3 pick and need to rebuild the roster on offense... you can't afford to drag your feet. If Bill quit maybe, but I see no indication he plans to do that.I doubt the Pats get anything for Belichick.
Washington is trading #2 overall for BB?That he trades him to Washington or Dallas instead.
Oh totally understood. But what leverage does BB have? He’s 71 and wants Shula’s record. He’s under contract to RKK.Kraft can't just trade Belichick without his say. It's not like a player trade.
The coach had to agree to a contract with the new team.
I could see them swapping for BB. Pats get #2, WAS gets Bill and #3. But much more likely that the Pats get a 2nd this year and a 3rd in 2025 or something. I also agree it's entirely possible there's no compensation at all as part of any settlement/release to a new team.Washington is trading #2 overall for BB?
If they view Bill as more valuable than Maye, maybe.Washington is trading #2 overall for BB?
BB has all of the leverage. He’s under contract to be the HC of the NEP next year. He can just tell Kraft he’s not quitting and he doesn’t want to go anywhere else, he wants to coach the Pats next year. At that point Kraft’s choices are (a) let him coach or (b) fire him in which case he’s free to go wherever he wants and the Pats are getting nothing for him.Oh totally understood. But what leverage does BB have? He’s 71 and wants Shula’s record. He’s under contract to RKK.
I think RKK would absolutely try to honor whatever BB would want. LAC would be a great destination for him that makes sense for all parties. I don’t see RKK trying to screw it up for Bill (if that’s what Bill wanted) if LAC are offering just compensation.
Personally I want to see BB go to Dallas, just because the team is stacked and I’d love to see what he could do with it, but LAC seem to be the best trade partner, assuming Bill wants to live on the west coast.
This is also a possibility.I could see them swapping for BB. Pats get #2, WAS gets Bill and #3. But much more likely that the Pats get a 2nd this year and a 3rd in 2025 or something. I also agree it's entirely possible there's no compensation at all as part of any settlement/release to a new team.
Also notable, HC and GM. Either Bill continues on with the same job he has or Kraft fires him. Now Bill could do NE a solid and let them get some comp for him by resigning then interviewing with new teams, but it's not like Kraft has anything to threaten with.BB has all of the leverage. I forgot that BB is the HC and GM. They ought to get two picks for him if another teams wants him to be the same. Also notable, HC and GM.
Yeah--remember if BB does a solid for Kraft he's agreeing to weaken the team he's joining when he has no need to.Also notable, HC and GM. might have been 7th, their SOS would go up quite a bit with the Patriots getting 2 wins instead of 2 losses.Am I looking at this correctly? The Jets would have had the 6th pick with a loss today and now have the 10th. That’s a massive difference.
But does it matter? It's the Jets. They took Vernon Ghoulston and 6 and Kyle Brady at 10.Am I looking at this correctly? The Jets would have had the 6th pick with a loss today and now have the 10th. That’s a massive difference.
Probably 6 or 7 depending on how SOS would change if they had lost today.Am I looking at this correctly? The Jets would have had the 6th pick with a loss today and now have the 10th. That’s a massive difference.
Yeah that poster is the same idiot who said Mac Jones was the biggest bust and worst draft pick in Pats history. He doesn't exactly have a great history of postering on here. He's not Bob Ryan at his peak. @ Arroyoyo should be ignored. One poster here thinks we're getting a top 6 pick for BB (all because Denver traded a #1 for Payton, despite the fact it was the 30th pick, not a top 6). Maybe we can stop responding to it unless and until we have something more than this.
It’s okay to have an opinion that the 15th overall pick quarterback, whose development was tied to the continued employment with the Patriots of the greatest head coach in NFL history, is a bigger bust than a #1 pick DE whose career was sidelined by injuries, not complete and utter “suck.”Yeah that poster is the same idiot who said Mac Jones was the biggest bust and worst draft pick in Pats history. It would be the most fitting to get a late 7thI doubt the Pats get anything for Belichick.
Do you care to respond to my post in this thread showing you that BB, not Kraft has all of the leverage here and unless Bill is an abject idiot (note: he’s not) there’s no way he’s going to handicap himself wherever he ends up by cooperating with Kraft to ensure that the Pats get compensation for him? It’s okay to have an opinion that the 15th overall pick quarterback, whose development was tied to the continued employment with the Patriots of the greatest head coach in NFL history, is a bigger bust than a #1 pick DE whose career was sidelined by injuries, not complete and utter “suck.”
I’m sorry you wanted to love Mac. Don’t take his trainwreck 2022 and 2023 out on me.
Great pick to be able to trade back into the 1st to get Penix after picking MHJ at #3.2nd pick in 2nd round
If you think responding to you absolves another poster of, inherently, shitposting, you need to stop flattering yourself. Quoting and responding to you is the epitome of shitposting on SoSH.Do you care to respond to my post in this thread showing you that BB, not Kraft has all of the leverage here and unless Bill is an abject idiot (note: he’s not) there’s no way he’s going to handicap himself wherever he ends up by cooperating with Kraft to ensure that the Pats get compensation for him?
Or do you just want to keep on slinging shitposts around?
Why would Bill ever agree to this? Don’t you think he can also reach out to the LAC to gauge interest? And if he knows that Kraft is done with him and the Chargers have interest, again, why would he ever agree to do this?If you think responding to you absolves another poster of, inherently, shitposting, you need to stop flattering yourself. The reason, outside of your general lack of self-awareness and fundamental decency, I’m ignoring you is because you’re assuming Bill has no interest in going to LAC. For all you know, weeks ago RKK went to BB and said “Bill, this isn’t working. What do you think about the LAC? They’ve reached out to me to express interest.” And an agreement was made.
Do I KNOW that? Of course not. But to think these back door conversations don’t happen is being dumb enough to believe media reports that the owner of a $6.4 billion franchise doesn’t regularly communicate privately to the guy that runs it.
Of course they talk. All the time. If you actually think they haven’t spoken at all about any of this, you’re a fool.
I'm honestly pretty confident that Bill's response would be, "Robert, right now I'm focused on the Steelers" (or whoever the upcoming opponent was in your imaginary scenario). For all you know, weeks ago RKK went to BB and said “Bill, this isn’t working. What do you think about the LAC? They’ve reached out to me to express interest.” And an agreement was made.
Because it’s a very short rebuild, the quarterback is stellar, and there are a lot of great places outside of LA to dock VIII Rings. Why would Bill ever agree to this? Don’t you think he can also reach out to the LAC to gauge interest? And if he knows that Kraft is done with him and the Chargers have interest, again, why would he ever agree to do this?
Well I think tampering happens all of the time, and it would be pretty simple for the Chargers to get word to BB (or his agent, or his cousin, or whoever) that they’d hire him if the Pats don’t want him back.Because it’s a very short rebuild, the quarterback is stellar, and there are a lot of great places outside of LA to dock VIII Rings.
And if RKK found out Bill and LAC spoke without RKK knowing, that is called tampering.
You really think an owner of an NFL team is more apt to reach out to the contracted coach of another team before they reach out to the owner? NFL ownership is one of the most exclusive clubs on the planet.
I think that’s all a persona. It’s just a front for the fans and media. There’s no way they aren’t in contact regularly.I'm honestly pretty confident that Bill's response would be, "Robert, right now I'm focused on the Steelers" (or whoever the upcoming opponent was in your imaginary scenario).
If BB gets the GM gig where he goes, he’ll be in the spot of determining what his own value is. Fascinating stuff.I doubt the Pats get anything for Belichick.
