He barely hit his XPs today. I'd have more faith going for 4th adnd 14 than having him kick. And, yes, he made 63 and 62 yarders…..5-6 years ago. What matters is what distance he was hitting in pregame.

That was in 2019. This season his longest FG was 54 yards, and he was 3-7 on FGs 50+ yards.Maher’s career long is 63.
fish won back to back Super Bowls with 14 total Super Bowl completionsThe winning QB was 4 for 18 with 38 yards and a pick. Man, the game has changed....
Worse than putting them both into comas.Didn't realize at the time... the guy who blew out Higbee's knee is Kerby Joseph... same guy who blew out TJ Hockenson's knee in the same way.
Holmes was a big part in building the Rams Super Bowl team. It was probably an emotional game for him.He seems a wee bit excited

In the second half, the Rams defense held the Lions to a FG, a punt after one first down, and a three and out. I can't blame McVay for trusting his defense over his kicker making a 61 yarder there. As Semper stated, Maher’s long was 63. This is in a dome; for the lead in a playoff game. Punting was the bad move. Curious what the win index/percentage says.
True, of course I think there is room in the rules to say... hey, launching yourself helmet first is an ejection in all circumstances, it's there to protect you not for you to use as a weapon.Worse than putting them both into comas.
Here’s what he had to say on Twitter/X:Didn't realize at the time... the guy who blew out Higbee's knee is Kerby Joseph... same guy who blew out TJ Hockenson's knee in the same way.
Yeah, I guess the logic goes like this:In the second half, the Rams defense held the Lions to a FG, a punt after 1 first down, and a three and out. I can't blame McVay for trusting his defense over his kicker making a 61 yarder there.
Honestly, that's just how Holmes is. It's probably why he and Campbell get along so well,Holmes was a big part in building the Rams Super Bowl team. It was probably an emotional game for him.
As he should be.He seems a wee bit excited

I haven't listened yet, but props to Sal, because that couldn't have been easy showing up after his Cowboys took the pasting they did.Guess (some of) the Lines is up on Spotify
Seems crazy high given how well GB's offense is hummingSF opens at -10 against GB. Game is 8:15 on Saturday.
To be fair, Maher was 8-10 from 59-59 last year and 1-1 on 60+ FGs too. So you can't say 2019 was the last time he was long because that's not accurate. That was in 2019. This season his longest FG was 54 yards, and he was 3-7 on FGs 50+ yards.
Because Dallas is as soft as Charmin and SF is the opposite.Seems crazy high given how well GB's offense is humming
The timeout situation meant the Lions were 2 first downs away from ending it so I don’t think field position after a missed FG or turnover on downs matter. They just needed to get the ball back.Yeah, I guess the logic goes like this:
If he misses, you MUST stop the Lions immediately. You can't even give up a single first down, because then they're immediately in FG range to make it a 4-point game. And in the best-case scenario, they're going to punt and bury you near your own end zone.
If you punt, the Lions get the ball with 4:07 left in lousy field position. You've still got a timeout and the 2-minute warning to work with. Even if you give up a first down, you still have a chance to get the ball back in a reasonable spot.
I don't know what the percentages say -- I suspect if you think Maher has a 50-50 shot of hitting the FG, you might still go for it. But as stated earlier, they watched him in warmups and knew what was realistic.
That was in Dallas. Placekicking isn't just a matter of the kicker, it's the whole operation--blocking, long snapper, holder, kicker. For whatever reason, the Rams haven't been good at that all year. But their defense had been successful in stopping Goff and the Lions in the second half of the game. Maybe they would have been better off trying to convert the fourth and 14, but the only dumb decision would have been to expect the shakiest part of their team--the kicking game--to come through in that situation. To be fair, Maher was 8-10 from 59-59 last year and 1-1 on 60+ FGs too. So you can't say 2019 was the last time he was long because that's not accurate.
The flipside, Maher did miss 5 XPs last playoffs and it's a miracle he's still in the NFL. But the Rams should have kicked anyway. Take the chance, you can get a lead. Or go for it.
Punting was truly dumb and embarrassing.
I’m usually a proponent of going for it, or going for points, but I agree with you here. It really seemed like the Lions O was sputtering and the Rams had figured out how to stop them. That was in Dallas. Placekicking isn't just a matter of the kicker, it's the whole operation--blocking, long snapper, holder, kicker. For whatever reason, the Rams haven't been good at that all year. If they had any faith in him, they might have been better off throwing short of the sticks on third down to give Maher a shorter FG attempt (54/55) or make the fourth down attempt for the first down easier, but they should have gotten a flag for the jersey pull on Puka's route on that play so I can't fault them for that play call since it would have been successful if the ref did his job.
Idiots forgot to put down the mega tarp on the stadium…
Late to chime in. But this deserves recognition. The puppy bowl has fewer non consensual humpers than the Browns roster.
Where would they put this snow after they shovel it off the seats? On trucks and dumped outside the stadium? Logistical nightmare.
It's a good thing they moved it huh?
Had a similar thought. What would it have been like yesterday? It's a good thing they moved it huh?

Not sure. Hell is very hot, fiery.Winter in Buffalo truly is hell on Earth.
Today's accuweather forecast:Had a similar thought. What would it have been like yesterday?
4 pm: SNOWWINTER STORM WARNING UNTIL 1 PM
Lake-effect snow and intense squalls, accumulating an additional 3-6 inches; cold; there can be whiteout conditions, dangerous travel and power outages
Mostly, though Dante’s Ninth Circle of Hell was icy.Not sure. Hell is very hot, fiery.
That would seem obvious. How can fans pack that stadium? People are going to be falling everywhere.Maybe should just play the game with no fans.
And we literally posted about it in this thread when that was announced. If we could figure it out...Delaying the game was a bad call. Not the easiest decision but the weather forecast indicated the snow was going to continue and it was going to stay very very cold. This is gonna be fun to watch but I do hope the fans are safe.
A report of Cleveland as well at AtlantaSupposedly they came close to moving the game to Atlanta.
You used to kill ants that way with a small magnifying glass, right? What if they installed a giant magnifying glass above the stadium to use the sun to melt it?
You have to crack a few eggs to make an omelette. You used to kill ants that way with a small magnifying glass, right?
I was in Buffalo all weekend for my son’s (partially outdoor) hockey tournament that was ultimately canceled on Sunday. We were stuck in the hotel Saturday night through this am with the travel ban. Honestly it seemed worse today than it was yesterday, but it can be deceiving if you fall just outside of one of the snow bands. We snuck out at 6am and getting to the highway was pretty tough, but once we were on 90 it wasn’t too bad. Glad to be out of there and almost home. It's a good thing they moved it huh?
Not Chris Berman? As mentioned, supposed to be not quite as cold in Buffalo, not as much snow or bad wind and wind gusts, so overall not quite as bad today. Still a bitch of a day and one I’d be leery about venturing out in if I lived there, but a lot of those fans are half crazy, right?
Win it for Kelly, Thomas, Reed, Lofton and Levy. Tasker too. Tim Russert.
They should strap on a dildo to every seat, so to speak, instead.Maybe should just play the game with no fans.
