I think Tatum had 4 offensive fouls called on him. So that's 4 turnovers right there.
Edit: Guess it was only 3.

An automatic dunk there is a good play... they are going to foul in a couple seconds there anyway, may as well take the 2 points.

A contested left handed dunk against the DPOY is not anything close to the play though.
I think we're agreeing.. what I was saying is that Jrue should've dribbled to the corner once he saw he was going to be contested.

In fairness as I think about it.. Tatum shouldn't even have made the pass.. you're up two with 13 seconds.. just get dribble it out or get fouled and make it a four point game.
Yup. Poor decision from Tatum there. Sure coaching staff will point that out in the debrief.

Can’t believe the poor decision-making by the Cs.

Can’t believe Aldama missed that shot.

Can’t believe they didn’t find a way to call a foul on KP on that last play.

I absolutely love Kristaps so far. His play, attitude, how he talks about the game. It's awesome.
the fact that he's so excited to be here and that he defers to both Tatum and Brown, but also gets his.. he and Jrue are like the 2004 sox adding Cabrera and Alphabet.. (that was his nickname right?)

Watching NFL all day and thinking the refs are not great really gets put in perspective when you see the shit that goes down in NBA games.
This is the first game in our 13-game-long season where I've felt the refs were just absolutely terrible, as opposed to run-of-the-mill "eh they miss a few on both sides, it evens out".

Another one that we lose last year but our team is just too good this year.

Ha! Never been. Couldn’t watch tonight - was basing my guess on literally just the box score. Buncha guys probably figured they could shake off a hangover with the late tip time. Mostly joking. Looked fugly though…
Make sure you page down far enough in the box score to see that Hauser got room service last night too

Broken record, but that seems like another game they would have lost last year.
Reminded me a ton of the game in OKC last year when SGA was out and they got worked. Sunday night in Memphis on the first leg of a B2B against an injury-riddled Grizzlies team whose entire strategy seemed to be junk up the game as much as possible is a prime let down spot and that is exactly what happened. Of course the difference this year is we have so much more talent one guy can bail them out on nights like this and KP was that guy.

That was a total Dikembe. Ended the game and the guy ended up on his ass
should've given him the finger wag. Instead we got the arms out "WTF is that flop bullshit" gesture, which, fair enough, but we'd seen it like 20 times tonight. You just won a game with a dunk and a block back to back, gotta have a feel for the moment.

Tatum has to get a better shot at the end. It's what still separates him from the elite closers. (Or they could actually run some action instead of letting him just go 1v1.)

White isn’t new but I was actually thinking about what you wrote earlier and adding him to Jrue and KP. It’s 3 good players who all seem like they think it’s their job to try to make Tatum and Brown better. It’s the best ceiling Celtics team of my adult life. I was a kid in 86. Doesn’t mean they win it all but I feel like they should.

I was 13 in '86.. I used to fall asleep to Johnny Most calling Celtics games... and was surprised when the Celtics lost two in a row. It's basically how I feel about this team... without injuries I'd be surprised to see them lose two in a row. Even on nights like tonite.. Memphis was playing like it was the playoffs.. and the C's never really went behind or rushed etc.. they could've lost, but felt like they really thought they would eventually put a few possessions together and just win..when they weren't having their best night.

White is one of the reasons Smart had to go IMO. White carried the team while Smart was hurt.. may have been their best player and inexplicably was put right back on the bench when Smart returned. White is too good at this point to not be a starter and in control of the offense. And now you have a bunch of shooters from three that you can't just leave open.. including KP that just opens up the lane for Jayson to do what he wants.

Also think that Tatum is also the perfect star for this type of team. He obviously loves scoring, but he's also becoming more of a facilitator as well. Just feels like winning is all that matters to him.

White is kind of new, since he was stapled to the bench in these situations last season.

He waved everyone off. His back-down turnaround has been lights out all year and he’d just nailed one not long before. He just didn’t get deep enough to his spot because of some good defense. I would be shocked if that wasn’t what Joe wanted there. They’ve been talking up Tatum’s new back to the basket game all fall. Didn’t work. But they were up two and the stakes were low. Let’s give it a shot.

25 years ago the difference might not have been so obvious. I'm not that familiar with Memphis, but Nashville is very different today than it was then.
I didn't realize that. The first time I visited Nashville was only a few years ago.
