I really really like the action we ran to get Tatum isolated on that side alone before the foul. I’d kill for us to just use off ball screens to get him advantage more over asking him to dribble so much

I had this same issue with Mazzulla last year. Teams do not get to practice during the regular season. The games are the practices. You need a variety of PnR coverages for just this type of situation that you feel comfortable playing. You can't be just switch or deep drop.

White is getting smoked but also they're running the action with Queta's man in the screen and he's not switching.
Joe recognized that they weren't going to stop running it so Banton comes in which should end the freebies with his length.

They do mix coverages. There may be very good reasons they don’t think Queta can switch. They’ve had Kornet switch some and Horford often does.

Nice job by Jaylen passing out of that situation, last year he would have forced a shot

I'd like to see them play some at the level, some blitzes, some peel switching. I want to see a greater variety of PnR coverages and I haven't it this season or last, really.

I posted a detailed scouting report on Queta when he was acquired as I was very familiar with him from college. He's gotten a lot better with his mobility but still is extremely limited outside of the paint. The poor kid was born 20 years too late.

Has anyone written about why the blitz has almost completely disappeared? Atlanta was trapping earlier but you almost never see anyone ask the big to hedge and extend anymore. Is it just corner 3s on the rotation?

As usual celts get lazy on offense with a lead settling for all perimeter offense threes

I'm not saying that a bltiz or a hedge is "the" solution. I just think if you have a variety of coverages you can force a player to actually think and be a little more uncertain/uncomfortable.

Not for nothing but that's never a foul on the hawk defender. Tatum holding the ball like a running back and initiated all the contact.

I like what I’ve seen so far. The Hawks have exploited some defensive issues created by us needing to play deep into our bench and the Celtics haven’t made open threes, but we’ve played good basketball generally on both ends and have led throughout despite shooting sub 30% from three on what have generally been good looks.

We're going to close this out without making a field goal in the final three minutes, at this rate.

EDIT: Thank you, Tatum.
