Haha, well, before you tried to belittle what I said, thank you for taking the time to count how many words I used. That shows that you have nothing of substance to say. But before you knock someone for being realistic and rational, maybe you should check how many posts you made about every prospect drafted in rounds 4-6 being drafted with their projections being solely STs. It gets really annoying because you don't know what they will be. I don't know either, but at least I'm being realistic and acknowledging the Pats aren't drafting a bunch of squids that they just intend to release or have projected as career STs. You really need to stop nutting on names that are on the board and what Kiper, Mayock, etc. say about each guy because names mean nothing to the Pats, just fitting in their system.

# When the Patriots were on the clock with their first selection of the third round, 69th overall, they had settled on their draft choice. A team official phoned Michigan linebacker Shawn Crable and the connection was made. As Crable was about to be informed of the pick, the phone in the Patriots' draft room rang. It was the Chargers, wondering if the 69th pick might be for sale -- in exchange for a 2009 second-rounder and a 2008 fifth-rounder. The Patriots quickly processed the information and told Crable they were still interested in him and hoped he might be available with their next third-round pick (No. 78), but something had come up with a trade. They wished him well, wondering if they'd be speaking again. Nine picks later, the Patriots rang Crable's phone again -- this time to pick him officially.

# In the fifth round, the Patriots were keeping a close eye on Nebraska defensive back Zackary Bowman and began working the phone lines in hopes of striking a deal to select him. A tentative deal was in place with the Jaguars at No. 153 if Bowman was available. It appeared as if things would work out, but the Bears snared Bowman at No. 152 and the deal was off.

Hmmm, we traded up to 153 anyways... I wonder if that is wrong and we actually made the trade before Bowman was picked.

I was all for having rounds 1-3 on day one, but I think the new format is pretty damn perfect.

Since I often work until 6 a.m., I liked the way day one went, but having to miss the third round entirely took me out of the flow. Still, I'd like the changes if I were on a more normal schedule.

Yep, doing some mining.  I think I got this half right, in the end, even though I was pretty bitter at the time.
