I'll be at tomorrow's game.
One of the good things about being stuck here in Michigan for a few years is that it coincides with the Dolphins coming to Ford Field. This will be my first time attending a game of theirs ,so that's exciting, and even more so since we're at the mid-way point and the team is inspiring some enthusiasm and optimism.
Pretty awesome, man. Here's hoping you get to see a Fins' victory first-hand; without getting sucker-punched by a Detroit fan in the process, of course.
I'm optimistic about tomorrow, but during the Philbin/Tannehill "era", every time the team has looked to be surging, they've crashed down to earth in disappointing fashion. Last year, for instance, the team began the season 3-0, only to lose the next 4 straight. And then after the Dolphins worked their way back to 8-6, they lost their last 2 games, needing only one to reach the playoffs.
I think this is a much better Dolphins team, though.
That said, this Detroit defense, similar to the Bills and Jags, are very physical and active up front. I'm concerned they'll be able to consistently pressure Tannehill and make him uncomfortable; and we've seen RT perform poorly under those conditions. A few early sacks could spell trouble for the remainder of the game. Add the fact that Miller might not play (injured shoulder), and we're looking at a Fins' offense that may have to rely too heavily on the passing game. This has also been disastrous in the past.
I've seen my fair share of Lions' games this year, and I haven't been impressed with their offense. Lead by Stafford, they've looked horrific for long stretches, and have often been forced to rely exclusively on the passing game. Additionally, Stafford is a risk-taker prone to mistakes.
But now that Calvin's back ...
My heart says Fins, by my head gives Detroit the edge. I'm concerned that Miami's offense just won't be able to do enough in this one.
