It will be interesting to see which team wins the battle for Gore's decline years.
The dude is ageless. He's an animal running the ball and in fact if the Pats signed him somehow I would be thrilled. No more than two years though. He should have been in decline for the last 3 years. If the Ravens were smart this is the guy they should sign.

According to profootballreference.com, Gore's nickname is "The Inconvenient Truth".

He's never played with a really good passing QB.

Check this out:

05, 06: Alex Smith
07: Trent Dilfer
08: Shaun Hill
09, 10, 11: Alex Smith
12, 13, 14: Kaepernick

He's probably salivating at playing with a guy like Luck.

Speaking of the Cardinals, shouldn't they be in the market for one of these third-tier QBs (Mallett, Fitzpatrick, Sanchez, etc.)? Did they learn nothing from last year?

That 20 year reunion is going to be a blast next year.

Plus, his full name is Franklin Delano Gore. No wonder he's lasted for so long.

I never knew he was so awesome.

Edit: Pats should sign him so that it plants the seeds for the future Brady/Gore political ticket.

Seems like they are good with Drew Stanton as a back up, and I'm not sure any of those guys are worth whatever extra money they would cost over what the Cards are supposed to pay Stanton next year (around $3.5m).  Stanton was a decent backup last year.  He went 6-3 for them.  Seems like the coach likes him.  Their problem last year was Lindley.

Actually, it looks like and Indy reporter tweeted that they knew each other in HS and the ESPN guy RT and asked if he covered them, which he did.

Honestly, in like 3 years no one is even going to remember that he was ever good. Product of Peyton and a smart decision by Elway IMO. Also have to give credit to him for not giving Decker big $$ last year.

Thomas has yet to stay healthy for an entire year. They made the smart call letting him go.

No, it's cool as long as they don't leak the terms. Or something.

@AdamSchefter: Now we know why DeMarco Murray has deleted Cowboys' references on his Twitter account: team has not called him since last week, per source.

I'm a little surprised about letting Browner explore his market or wanting to re-do his deal.
Looking at the contacts getting handed out his deal is cheap. He's under contract for two more years at that. He's 30 so you don't want to extend him at this point.
I just don't think it's a good spot to get cap relief.

And allowing him to talk to other teams is probably just going to up his value.

If they really need his cap room for Revis than I can see a trade but just not sure about letting his agent go around talking to teams.

It's not a bad idea to let the player gauge the market.  The Pats are under no obligation to deal him or cut him.

I do think Revis gets done.  I don't know how the Pats do it.  And if they end up dealing Browner, I wonder what they end up getting for him.  Given the market for good CBs right now, I would suspect that he could fetch them a fair amount.  I love his physical presence, and he allowed them to do some things I've not seen from this team in years.  But perhaps Dennard or Butler could step in opposite Revis (which would be the reason Browner goes…if they can do Revis but need Browner's $$ to make it happen).  Who knows.

I just don't see any upside for the Patriots but maybe I'm missing something.
I also have flashbacks to when they let Branch do this.

I guess it makes it easier to trade him with the agent doing some of the leg work.
I'm not the biggest fan of Browner anyway and if he's the price for re-signing Revis then of course you move on.

Just not sure what they hope to accomplish by looking to re-do his contract

I have no authority to cite, but I get the sense that they view Butler as promising and want to give him a good shot at camp. He doesn't have Browner's size, which brings a lot to the table, but his fast twitch reaction time is notable.

I assume he will take Maxwell's starting spot? He is likely to look pretty good playing with Sherman, Thomas, and Chancellor.

That appears to be the plan at this point.  They have also signed Blackmon who slots well into the nickle.  I'm guessing they are believing Lane's injury is going to take longer to heal than previously planned

So, what you're saying is...the Patriots are currently breaking the rule, and are therefore cheating?

Maybe Browner initiated the move by threatening a holdout unless he gets a longer term contract? He certainly would get one as a free agent this year.

Just for you.  Yes yes I am.  The Patriots are cheating by not being under the salary cap requirements even though the league year hasnt ended/started yet.
