Damn you...Funny you should mention that. Kings with a 13 point lead at the start of the fourth. I cannot turn this game off now.

I'm watching it too. I have no faith in the Kings at all, but they're hanging tough.Funny you should mention that. Kings with a 13 point lead at the start of the fourth. I cannot turn this game off now.
I know RPM has him as the worst PG in the league this year, but Fox had looked solid this game. Running the offense, finding teammates with the right pass, has a nice shooting stroke.Funny you should mention that. Kings with a 13 point lead at the start of the fourth. haha. There are several things I find fascinating about the Kings: the ageless one (Vince Carter), the two UK guys (Labissierre and Fox) and Kosta Koufos' hair.Damn you...
That hair is memorizinghaha. There are several things I find fascinating about the Kings: the ageless one (Vince Carter), the two UK guys (Labissierre and Fox) and Kosta Koufos' hair.
Great block on the other end, too.Murray is on fire
Not that they don't provide any value but we don't need new studies to tell us rest is good. I'm sure LeBron and his team of trainers know this. My point is more to what you said last, which is LeBron is a smart guy when it comes to his chosen profession. I'm sure he's well aware of the risk and need for rest. The deal is there have been recent studies showing that marginally increasing rest can marginally decrease the risk of injury. It's why big stars almost never play 38-40 mpg anymore. More anecdotally, those increases in rest also tend to play big dividends in terms of late-season and playoff performance. The one time LeBron managed to get past the Warriors was the season where he took two weeks off midseason, came back totally refreshed, and beasted all the way through the 2016 finals. In the 2015 playoffs, he put up .487 true shooting trying to carry his depleted team as the Warriors army of young, 6'-8" guys ran roughshod over him. In 2017, KD — who had had a month of rest before the playoffs — scored on him like he wasn't there (35 ppg on .700 true shooting).
He's now 33, with (currently) a pretty big margin to close on the Raptors and Celtics, let alone the Warriors. I'd think he'd embrace any marginal edge he could get. He's an incredibly smart guy, though — I imagine he's trying to balance the need for more rest with the need to integrate IT and get the whole team playing at a much higher level.
Build some confidence for Tuesday...Well this is a pleasant surprise by the Kings.
1. loss to Hornets ... checkHornets favoured by 2.5 pts in Staples tonight.
Looking forward to a couple of Laker losses over the next 3 home games and some honest commentary from LaVar.
True. Although pretty insanely, despite missing a third of the season, he still leads the NBA — including all his teammates — in total plus-minus (+326).Unfortunately he has missed 1/3 of the season to date
You really feel that the Cavs were super motivated to "show what they're made of" in an early January game on the road versus a league doormat? The Cavs played one of the worst teams in the NBA on three days' rest, with their full, healthy squad and a ton of motivation to show what they're made of after a rough stretch capped by an embarrassing loss to the Celtics. And went out and gave up 127 points to the #26 ranked offense in the NBA.
I mean, they should feel pretty good that they're finally healthy, and that IT looks great, but they've got a lot of work to get to the level of an elite team right now. Teams with #28-ranked defenses and +2.5 net ratings tend not to end well.
I mean I can’t be sure, but yeah: my sense is that the game after getting spanked on national TV by their #1 rival, with two days to stew on it and listen to the national media crap on them, they’d be a bit more juiced than usual, regardless of the lameness of their opponent. You really feel that the Cavs were super motivated to "show what they're made of" in an early January game on the road versus a league doormat?
For those on mobile, Kawhi has a shoulder tear. He is out tonight but may play this week depending on how it progresses.
15-2 run by the Mavericks to tie it up against the Knicks with a 1:28 left in the fourth.
Edit: still tied with a minute left.
Tied at 27 after 1No reports on LAL v ATL?
Terrible basketball tooTied at 27 after 1
I've watched a lot of bad basketball this year, rooting for the pick, but this one is going to be hard.Terrible basketball too
3 points in 6 minutes. Wow.Niiiice 2nd quarter, Hawks.
Manu is going to have his Paul Pierce moment this postseason and win a game at the buzzer. Kawhi really needs to get healthy. With Aldridge back to playing well, the Spurs with a healthy Kawhi/Aldridge/Parker leading the way with Manu/Gay off the bench would be a tough out for Golden State. Just give me this basketball gods!As long as we're giving love to 40 y.o. Vince Carter, I think some love is also in order for 40 y.o. Manu, who dropped 26 tonight (9-16 fg) in a one-point loss to the Blazers.
No disrespect to the greatness of Vinsanity but imho Manu's better than Vince now, was better at their respective peaks, and has had a better overall career (despite playing significantly fewer minutes).
Manu chose his teammates and organization better than Vince. Vince was the better athlete and the better scorer, but he didn't make his teammates better. Manu did.As long as we're giving love to 40 y.o. Vince Carter, I think some love is also in order for 40 y.o. Manu, who dropped 26 tonight (9-16 fg) in a one-point loss to the Blazers.

We have these same conversations every year though. Remember post-deadline last winter when the Cavs were left for dead while implementing 5 new players into their rotation? Their regular season is essentially their pre-season to prepare for the playoffs. Net rating in the regular season for veteran teams with little motivation is worthless as we saw with them last season.I mean I can’t be sure, but yeah: my sense is that the game after getting spanked on national TV by their #1 rival, with two days to stew on it and listen to the national media crap on them, they’d be a bit more juiced than usual, regardless of the lameness of their opponent.
Basically I’m saying “the Cavs are not that great” (yet?) is a more plausible explanation for why the Magic game was close than “they went through the motions.” If their net rating on the season suggested they were anything resembling a great team, I’d lean towards the latter.
