Miami onside kick, recovered by the kicker. That was legit.
Given the new kickoff rules, I’ve thought that the best way to recover a kick now is the slow dribbler in front of the kicker that the kicker runs behind.

Watson just has no idea how to protect himself out there. Terrible awareness. If Lamar is Vick, Watson is RGIII. Never seen anybody open himself up to as many blindside hits as this guy.
People think of Watson as a running QB ... he isn't; he's primarily a pocket passer who runs when necessary, like a Russell Wilson

You're probably right but that was a surprise kick. If it's not a surprise, there would at least be a guy there to try to field it. Still, it wouldn't be easy to field it if it was a good kick.

Sebastian Janikowski might be able to make a comeback specializing in this since he outweighs most special teams guys.

It happened early in the game. If the Texans get their asses whipped for the next 3 quarters, that’s on them. Emotionally fragile are they?
Disagree. This is a very different game if it’s 14-7 now instead of 14-0. There’s only so much a team can overcome in a closely matched game.

And they flag Houston for the PI, of course.

Because, OF COURSE. I really don't like Baltimore, for like 73 different reasons.

That's pass interference but the one earlier isn't? They can't even be consistent within the same crew.

I also don't agree. They might be emotionally fragile but that was a blatant bad call. It does change the dynamic of the game. This wasn't some close call. It was egregious. It was the type of play that this new stupid rule was designed exactly for.

And they got it wrong. That leaves a mark.

You're assuming a) they get the touchdown and b) the rest of the game plays out as it did ... neither of which is a certainty

A 21 to 0 mark?

Baltimore is better than Houston, across the board, and this is a home game. At a certain point, reality needs to kick in.

Good parallel.

Wilson is a star because he’s a good thrower who runs well enough. I think Watson will become a slightly better version of that player, but that includes a bit of projection — Watson isn’t where Wilson is as a thrower yet.

Incidentally, I think that’s Joe Burrow’s path too. And Baker Mayfield’s. And Carson Wentz’s. It’s the rare QB who runs well enough to make elite throwing skills unnecessary — the list this century includes Vick, Jackson, RG3, and maybe Kaepernick. (And Tebow, but he didn’t meet even the relaxed bar for throwing skills.)

Good point, but I think that’s a more valid assumption in this case than it usually is.

Are you a ravens fan?
A season ticket holder, but a Pats fan first and always.

I would be apoplectic about the Patriots passing on Lamar twice — but with the Brady timetable, it was never going to work out. Lamar would relegated to running gadget plays in NE.

That said, trading Lamar to Baltimore, the Pats probably gave the Ravens a 12-year lifeline.
