That seems rather a non-analytical comment, to say you’d rather have a bases empty walk than a hit (implied single given the knock)? Walk assures the base, hit you could be thrown out on the bases.

Petit didn't pitch 3 innings in a game all season, Manaea's early exit forced them to try to push him and he couldn't quite do it.

Huge DP gets Morton out of the 5th, 94 pitches for him and I'm guessing he is batter to batter now if not out.

What the A’s and Rays do with their budgets is impressive, but there will always be limitations to how far they can go in the postseason without those high priced, high WAR, impact players.

Umm, Meadows and Semien? 22nd and 32nd in wOBA. 11th and 19th and wRC+. Meadows 30th in REW, 11th WPA/LI, if you want crunch time.

Why are we using/discussing standard fucking FIP in 2019? God. A league constant when it came out was revolutionary when Voros came up with it 20 years ago. Now it’s like being proud of your iMac desktop. We have individual batted ball profiles. If Perpetua could make that stat, bbFIP, on his own level from Statcast, we can stand to do the same on a national level. Especially on the advanced broadcast.

This is two years in a row that Oakland's chances in the Wild Card were doomed by the choice of starting pitcher

Also he only has one unintentional walk since coming to TB, a ridiculous 44/1 K/BB ratio (actually 44/2 with the intentional one).
