zimmerman was on a HoF trajectory before he completely lost the ability to throw to first base. the guy used to be an unreal 3b. glad to see he was able to stick around long enough to be a big part of this team. if he could play the steve pearce role in this WS they should build a statue for him

I see once again Davey is mortgaging game 3 to go to Corbin tonight with the rover. makes a certain amount of sense - beating Cole would be huge

Oh, I agree it's risky. I just get why they're doing it if they think he's a better option than they're relievers.
Yeah, I guess I'm saying I don't think there's much reason to think that. I have been mocking Rodney all season but Rodney. Rainey, Doolittle, Hudson, stick with the pen in this one IMO.

If you are the Astros, why is Cole back out there? You would think they may want to save his arm.
For what? They're likely not going to use him on short rest, which he has never done before, and this is almost certainly his last week as an Astro. He's on extra rest coming into tonight also.

You don't see that too often ... 85-year-old Asdrubal Cabrera singles on an 85 mph pitch

Cole through 6 at 90 pitches, Corbin coming in. I would be petrified right now if I were a Nats fan.

I know he isnt a short rest candidate and I also doubt his agent will be as kind as Eovaldi's was last post-season. That said, I am not sure why they trot him out there when he clearly isn't sharp.

I think Corbin is only in for 1, like a bullpen day, then Rainey/Doolittle/Hudson.

Joe Garagiola! I had no idea.

Players under 21 years of age with 3+ RBIs in a WS game:

#STLCards’ Joe Garagiola Oct. 10, 1946, W 12-3
#Braves’ Andruw Jones Oct. 20, 1996, W 12-1
#Nats’ Juan Soto Tonight, TBD

Yordan waking up but he is still going to have to sit the middle games of this series with no DH.

Barring a sweep, Sunday will be a sports equinox.

Thursday was theoretically possible with a rain out today or tomorrow until Houston made it since they have a roof.

I think Corbin gets to go through Reddick this inning, if it gets to Springer, they bring in a righty.

DIaz pinch-hitting, think this is Corbin's last batter either way.

With the number of pitches the Astros see and foul, I just don’t know how the Nats cobble together 1250 quality pitches or more if the series goes long. But it’s going to be fun seeing them try.
