Deserves is a bad way to manage.I wasn't sure he'd go 2
he deserves the 9th
Besides, Plymp had him out in the fourth.

My Q: under what possible conditions might we see Strasburg tomorrow assuming he doesn't work hard in the 9th?At 102 pitches. Why not?
sometimes it gets lonely out thereI still talk about the Will Middlebrooks play every day.
Obstruction isn’t interference, Mr. Middlebrooks.
I still hate that call. Correct, incorrect, whatever. Sox won. I still fucking hate it.I still talk about the Will Middlebrooks play every day.
At least now we are talking about the correct question.Nobody will change your mind nor JAs. But judgement calls like that which are infrequently made are strange to make on this stage. Furthermore, the throw was clearly bad (you never want your 1B to catch the ball on the foul line side of the bag obviously) and Turner was already past Gurriel when the ball got there.
I don't think anyone is arguing that you are interpreting the rule incorrectly - at least I am not - just that its odd to call it there and especially with a bad throw. Turner did not really interfere with the play.
the Pitching Ninja Twitter feed posts graphics like that a lot, but first time I've seen it on TV - really shows how hard it is to hit certain pitchersIt really was. One small gripe I'd have liked to see the three releases side by each as well but really cool and informative.
Get kyrie in!Nobody warming for the Nets. Might still be a good idea to have someone ready?
Kyrie is warming. And he isn't wearing a hat in this case.Nobody warming for the Nets. Might still be a good idea to have someone ready?
They'll likely get up when inning ends.Nobody warming for the Nats. Might still be a good idea to have someone ready?
And where in this righteous rant does that interference non-call in last year's WS factor?I know everyone hates umps, especially when they make an unexpected call that goes against the team you favor.
But to me, whatever one wants to say about umps , that call right there is everything that is good about human umpiring. They absolutely fucking nailed it, didn’t hesitate and got it right. In real time. In a crucial spot. The second they are afraid not to make the right call because people don’t understand the rule or because it is unusual is when we have a problem, as the NFL is learning.
This call is the Joe West fan interference call on Mookie’s attempted catch against the Astros. He fucking nailed it, even if only we Red Sox fans know it.
You never go full Grady.Leave him in until first base runner. I e don't pull a grady
All the fans in this series... so farMust be sad to be these fans and have your team go 0-3 when you show up.
This is exactly what happened in that way way crazier situation between TOR/TEX a few years ago, culminating with the best bat flip ever by Bautista. The irony is that the call seemed almost to galvanize the Nats. Martinez getting ejected. It may turn out to be a huge moment. They looked like they were sleepwalking in Washington. They look better!
You are privileged to interfere with the throw if you follow the rule. If you don’t, you aren’t. Run in the lane, exit the lane on you last step, and if the ball hits you, you’re good. And where in this righteous rant does that interference non-call in last year's WS factor?
I don't mind the umps having courage, I mind them using their discretion to call something that defies logic. "interferes with the throw" - how else was he supposed to land on the base? If he'd taken a picture-perfect route through that lane, he'd still arrive at that exact same spot relative to the bag in order to step on it.
This is where I'm at, too... the last replay it honestly look like Gurriel wouldn't have caught it if Turner had still been standing at home plate. And he was already on the bag, and would have been safe if the ball had been caught. Maybe it was right by the letter of the rules.... but it just seems off to me.And where in this righteous rant does that interference non-call in last year's WS factor?
