Opening Day, 2005. The opening ceremonies were beyond fantastic. Of course. Near the end, there was a moment of silence for the recently departed Pope John Paul II. There was also a moment of silence for the late, great Dick Radatz. The ballpark was absolutely silent. Then some leatherlungs over near third base yells out, and I swear they heard it at the back of the bleachers: "Hey, Arod [
very long pause . . . ballpark still completely quiet] YOU SUCK!" One of my best memories of Fenway ever. This photo was on the front page of the
Globe. Those are my hands. I apologized to the photographer for getting in his way, then saw the paper the next morning.
