Surprised Heyman didn't bemoan this contract being another blow to the "little guy" owners as well.

True, good point, but also they should get a fuil season of Manoah. They're probably not done adding guys either, they could use some bullpen help certainly. They also lost the AL Cy Young
Def and they also have quality depth (Stripling) and upside depth (Pearson).True, good point, but also they should get a fuil season of Manoah. They're probably not done adding guys either, they could use some bullpen help certainly.
I’ll bet J.D. Davis is part of that. Seems like an A’s kinda hitter.

But also a FA after 2022, so trying to get value from his final season, although seems like they could have gotten more.Bassitt makes close to $9 million. Another salary dump by the A’s. (Prospects blah blah)
Could have moved him at the deadline, if/when they were out of it. But then they'd have to pay for April, May, June, and July. But also a FA after 2022, so trying to get value from his final season, although seems like they could have gotten more.
They want to trade Kimbrel so this may be his preemptive replacement. The White Sox love spending money on relievers

High-powered reliever Joe Kelly has agreed to a 2-year contract with the Chicago #WhiteSox. The deal will be final when he completes a physical.
Bummer. I was hoping he would stick around as a utility guy.Mark Feinsand

Seems a little soon for the Twins to give up on their 2021 1st round pick, especially for Sonny Gray.
2 years of Gray, $10M this year and a club option at $12M for 2023.Seems a little soon for the Twins to give up on their 2021 1st round pick, especially for Sonny Gray.
Between the two deals, the Twins gave up Berrios and an 18-year-old prospect and gained Gray and three prospects. The two they received for Berrios were both ranked in the top-100 prospects last year. And the money for this year is essentially a wash (Gray and Berrios both are due $10M), and they have Gray for an additional year at reasonable money ($12M option). There's an argument that the Twins came out ahead.I guess it’s good that the Twins are still going for it, but the sequence of trading Berrios for prospects, and then turning around and trading different prospects for Gray seems… I dunno, inefficient at best?
Even just the Austin Martin/Chase Petty part, Martin was the #5 overall pick in 2020 (and people though that might have even been low), Petty was the #26 overall pick in 2021.Between the two deals, the Twins gave up Berrios and an 18-year-old prospect and gained Gray and three prospects. They also lost Wade Miley, who was coming off a 141 ERA+ campaign, to the Cubs on waivers. And now they trade Gray for a low level pitching prospect who projects as a reliever.
I think this is right, as an overall value evaluation. Of course, the two moves weren’t connected, and I’m still annoyed that the Twins couldn’t figure out a way to extend the homegrown Berrios. Toronto extended him about 12 seconds after trading for him, and for a relatively reasonable amount given Berrios’s durability and solid consistency. But anyway…Between the two deals, the Twins gave up Berrios and an 18-year-old prospect and gained Gray and three prospects. Might as well get the other surgery he needs to right now while he is going to be out anyway.Well this sucks. Tatis has a fractured wrist.
By diagnosed do you mean disclosed? There's been no lockout on competent doctors.Apparently Tatis had a motorcycle accident in the offseason, and due to the lockout this injury was not properly diagnosed until now.

Where have you read a report citing a link between the alleged accident and this injury? I’m seeing speculation to this effect but nothing more.Apparently Tatis had a motorcycle accident in the offseason, and due to the lockout this injury was not properly diagnosed until now.
