Going west coast a la Pedroia/Mayer/YorkeIt’s like the Nick Yorke pick. Which is hopefully a good thing in the end…
Need has literally nothing to do with the MLB draft. Less than nothing.Meh. We need pitching, so of course we go with another middle infielder
You the mean the guy who has a 652 ops single A?It’s like the Nick Yorke pick. Which is hopefully a good thing in the end…
Is that the best video we have on the guy?
I understand the BPA approach to the MLB draft but this team isn’t exactly drowning in pitching prospectsNeed has literally nothing to do with the MLB draft. Less than nothing.
Young and dealing with some injuries this year but go off.You the mean the guy who has a 652 ops single A?
Stylistically, I would rather have a team of guys who bat .290, don't get themselves out by chasing balls in the dirt and who hit 20 HR and 50 doubles a year than a team of guys who hit like Dalbec and Cordero. So I'm good with the pickThey are going with a hit above power. Hopefully can save and get 2 guys who they can sign in round 2.
HS pitchers take like 4-6 years to develop.Meh. We need pitching, so of course we go with another middle infielder
It doesn’t matter.I understand the BPA approach to the MLB draft but this team isn’t exactly drowning in pitching prospects
I'd rather have Judges and DeversesStylistically, I would rather have a team of guys who bat .290, don't get themselves out by chasing balls in the dirt and who hit 20 HR and 50 doubles a year than a team of guys who hit like Dalbec and Cordero. So I'm good with the pick
Gritty is the new market inefficiency.
Yes, Romero seems to be part of a baseball family, including his sisters who are both softball stars. FWIW ...
All snarkiness aside I feel like that is what has been missing from the offense the last couple seasons. Last season Cora wanted everyone to be aggressive and they responded, but that meant nobody was taking pitches or working the count, which lead to a hot and cold offense with no middle ground. This year the offense seems similar. I wonder if Bloom wants to remake this team, starting either at the trade deadline or next off season, to be a bunch of grinders. To get back to players who will take pitches work the count and not let the starter get deep into games. In addition to doing that on the MLB level he is also trying to instill that in the minors.Stylistically, I would rather have a team of guys who bat .290, don't get themselves out by chasing balls in the dirt and who hit 20 HR and 50 doubles a year than a team of guys who hit like Dalbec and Cordero. I didn’t realize getting guys like that was as easy as saying “let’s get guys like that.” Do you think Chaim doesn’t want all-stars?I'd rather have Judges and Deverses
They can’t without consent and Fabian’s dad said no.So just for shits and giggles… Fabian at 41?
Wow that’s… differentThey can’t without consent and Fabian’s dad said no.
From your lips…Man, he really is Pedroia
Wanted him as wellDamn, I really like Drew Gilbert. Would’ve been a perfect fit for the Sox.
Why would you say something like this. This Blue Jays pick certainly doesn't lack for ego.
I hope he goes TJ in his first IP.
Is it too early to pick him in the 2026 contest?
confirmed Yorke being traded for Soto /sarcasm fontRomero it is. 2B of the Future™.
You must be new here. Why would you say something like this.
Yup. Crawford was really good at both at UConn. What’s TWP? Two-way player?
Hm. Sounds like an interesting playerYup. Crawford was really good at both at UConn.
MLB has tried really hard to make this a major event like the NFL and NBA drafts. Besides the biggest difference being baseball players take longer to get to the pros, the lack of trades really keeps this from being an exciting event. If they allowed trades in the draft it would have been nice to trade our next two picks to go back up and get Gilbert. But god forbid MLB ever allow the trading of draft picks.
you wouldn’t want to add that bit of excitement.
As great a run as UConn had this year in the CWS it would have been even better if Crawford didn't need TJS. Great pick for SF.
I'd have loved for the Red Sox to draft him. Oh well, we'll always have Barnes...
I think it’s really just the first part. NBA/NFL draftees can play their whole rookie contract in the time it takes a baseball draftee to debut.MLB has tried really hard to make this a major event like the NFL and NBA drafts.
