I don’t think he was necessarily bad. His jumper was off but he had some really strong finishes in traffic, got to the line a bunch, and did a good job making plays to get other guys involved.
Agreed. Tatum's box score might have been the last thing I was worried about tonight regardless what it looked like

We all talk about how Tatum is a top 4 players and that he’s underrated by the media…I think we have to start holding him to a higher standard.

3-13 and 0-4 on 3’s just isn’t good enough

That’s very different than the original question. No one is worried about Tatum..but he can still have a bad game

Fair, but people like to doom and gloom because he missed a few open shots. He didn't get his usual POINTZ by missing a few open looks but the rest of his game was fine. He looked a hell of a lot stronger muscling his way to the rim, and was trying to move the ball more

I really have to push back on this.

This board is, for the exception of a few people who everyone should ignore when it comes to basketball, overwhelmingly positive/defensive of Tatum.

And, POINTZ aren’t everything…but poor POINTZ and piss poor efficiency normally mean someone had a bad game.

No one is saying Tatum sucks or he should be benched or he’s no longer good…but I think we can all admit when he has a bad game and no one is going to catch on fire for it

I agree, I think we are kinda crossed up haha. All I'm saying is I watched the whole game, his shot selection for the most part was good, he just missed some open ones, and the rest of his game was as you would expect.

I watched a lot of this game, and I got the distinct impression that a lot of the rebounds they gave up, loose balls they didn't get to, etc. was a result of not trying to get hurt during a preseason game.

If Maxey wants to go balls to the wall in order to convince the organization that they can roll without Harden, giving him a starring role, fucking let him. No reason to risk the season to prove any points in a preseason game. Get some conditioning in, get to know your teammates and move on to the next. That's all I want out of this, and frankly, all I want out of the regular season.

I know his attempts, off-the-dribble 3s, and attention is greater BUT I'm hoping JT can return to being the 40% 3pt shooter he was the first 4 seasons.

I haven't heard him talking about working on his 3pt stroke this summer with Hanlen, which is a little disappointing.

Pritchard has been decent getting over screens. Banton has some hesitation to his game and his size should allow him to finish. He has some glide to him.

Kornet has looked pretty bad in these first two.

Banton is quick and can get to the rim in a hurry. I’d like to see JD for a while tonight, but I’m not sure he has a chance of playing this year.

Banton looks like what I spent years pretending Romeo could be as an initiator. Not saying that means much in the end but he can do some stuff.

They generated a fair share of good looks in Q1. Nice run at the end when they started falling and started getting some stops.

I'll say this about the perceived lack of depth, the back half of this roster should be able to send waves of tall, energetic, and athletic bodies at other teams

Walsh with a great steal and coast to coast finish in traffic.

Kinda like these lineups that can just be finding daylight for one of X number of snipers. Keeps the D vigilant.

Wow, look at how badly that three-point shot was missed. I wonder how much of that had to do with Walsh's super-long arms flying through the air.

Fun getting to see Walsh play. And I was not familiar with Mykhailiuk at all - he looks good for the role he'd be playing.

Pritch has such a sweet stroke. This season is going to be fun.

Quickley is adding his name to the long list of Celtic-torching guards.

Hauser's shot mechanics look fucked up to me. I'm not enough of a hoop head to be able to pinpoint it, but the last few he's jacked up, I could tell just right off the release that it was nowhere close.

Something to watch as the preseason rolls on.

I think he’s rushing it.

I know it’s preseason and who cares but the Knicks are getting way too many whistles tonight.
