I just think Mac and the Pats pose less of a threat to throw deep, and they’re a far greater threat to play ball control and keep the ball from Miami’s offense.
In that instance, they need to be more proactive in the run game and short passing and less concerned with the risk of the ball over the top. We’ll see how Vic decides to handle it.

2-0 with two road victories to start the season.
Defense came prepared for the challenge and was far more stout against the run. Not a perfect performance, but a significant improvement over last week.
Offense, the running game came through. Mostert was great on the ground, handling the bulk of the work. Belichick did what he does, and he schemed away the deep shots and kept a lid on Tyreek. He wanted to force Tua and McDaniel to execute underneath, and for the most part they did.
2-0 without Armstead either game. Without Ramsey. And without Phillips either this game. Great testament to the depth of the roster and the coaching job on both sides of the ball. Butch Barry has made Kendall Lamm and Austin Jackson look like passable tackles. Connor Williams and Tua have to get the snaps cleaned up. I say Tua because I think that last fumble that forced the long FG attempt was on Tua, but Williams also sent a few bad ones back there that Tua wrangled.
Home against Denver next week.

Pretty good to go to Cali and then Mass and come away 2-0. D still seems like a bit of a problem but no one in the AFC looks better at this point.
Their quick timing routes look unstoppable given the pressure the WRs put on the safeties, but nothing ever is in this league so I wonder who will give them problems and how. Maybe the NYJ, Phi or Dallas. They were pretty clearly the better team last night but let the Pats hang around. 2-0 is a good start but both of the games were closer than they should have been. I was impressed with Mostert, although it may also have been shitty tackling by NE.

The Dolphins are coming off of a big division win ... they're enjoying a media lovefest ... and they'll be facing a desperate, 0-2 team with a game versus Buffalo looming a week afterwards. Yeah, this is the definition of a trap game.

Is it OK to wait 'til, like, tomorrow to pump the brakes? What with this being an all-time NFL performance and all? Geez. Also, for what it's worth, the first two wins were conference games on the road. Always big in this league.
Celebrate the success, for sure. My point is don’t get too cocky when we have tougher opponents ahead. The Dolphins are super fast and talented while missing hood players.

I’m pro nerd. I’m anti people looking to poke holes in what looks like one of the best offenses in the history of football through three weeks.
Also, I look forward to people continuing to find new and interesting ways to denigrate Tua while complimenting Miami’s offense.
Not me! Tua is playing great the dolphins offense is great and the only question is how long can they keep this up!
I'm just a little surprised the Broncos took nothing from the Patriots 3-safety defense. Payton was cool with just getting carved up, I guess.
The Phins really missed Waddle yesterday! What a fun offense to watch, and any team that sticks it to Payton like that is alright by me. Really looking forward to the Bills game this Sunday...

This may sound like a weird comp, but I get some Kurt Warner vibes from Tua (ok maybe not so weird given the thread title). Warner didn't have a huge arm, sometimes threw a wobbly ball, etc. But he was the QB for one of the best offenses of all time. He hit Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt and they went up and down the field and scored a zillion points. Warner obviously eventually ended up in the HOF; if Tua ends up there too, you'd obviously be thrilled. So, credit to Tua for what he is doing, similar to Warner back in the day. It does feel to me that other guys could be doing similarly in that offense; but again, that's impossible to prove. If I had my pick of QB to start a team Tua probably wouldn't be in the top 10 (I haven't given it a ton of thought). But he's producing and they're scoring the points and you can't take that away from him.
This was an insane game. Every time I looked up, the Dolphins had the ball on Denver's 20. And then they scored. It didn't stop. I have never seen anything like it. I just looked up again and Miami has the ball on the Denver 18. On a Monday.
You would think that to score 70, they would have had a bunch of short fields, maybe defensive or special teams scores, but I think 8 of their 10 TD drives were 68+ yards. 726 yards is almost more impressive to me than 70 points. 350+ yards both through the air and ground.

Everyone said that Tua is a left-handed Drew Brees during his pre-draft evaluations. I think that pretty much nails it. Tua is a little bigger and taller than Brees was, but I think they play the game in the same way, with similar strengths and weaknesses.
I think it took a few years for Tua’s arms strength to come back after his hip injury. He doesn’t have an elite arm by any means, but it’s significantly better than it was his rookie year.
I think this is the biggest difference from last year. Last year, McDaniel kept trying to force the passing game, even when teams had started to figure out how to slow it down.
Miami’s seeing all these light boxes, and they’re absolutely gashing teams in the running game now.
It was the most points scored by RBs in fantasy football history. Just amazing.
So far this AM, I haven't seen any national media gasping about running up the score yesterday. Weird.
Probably because a.) Sean Payton is a douchebag and has done it many times to other teams and b.) Miami gave them a mercy kneel down instead of tying the all time record.

While I agree with the overall point, can we not make every thread about the Patriots? Double true for perceived sleights we had to "endure" during the greatest stretch in NFL history.
I hate the Dolphins. And while I admit to a level of schadenfreude if Tua or Hill were to go down with an injury, it really would be a shame. This offense is a lot of fun to watch.

Just insane... I wish I had watched some of it.... I assume those youtube 10-12 minutes highlight videos NFL usually puts out will be about 30 minutes this week for this game
This will become a story if it happens a few more times. For now, Miami is a feel-good up and comer, who will challenge KC, etc. If they hang 70 on Buf next week you can bet McDermott will be crying.
