This is why we love The Game. You just will never "see it all". What a crazy, crazy inning.

Bob Costas is sad.

Too much swing and miss for the Twins. They were helpless against big strikeout relievers.

And too much swing and home run for the Dodgers starters.

The bad news is LA is gonna buy all the free agent pitchers now and we aren't gonna get any.
There is no bad news unless you are rooting for the Dodgers. Let them lose and let Pedro sort out the bodies. Or something like that.

Point is, part of Lynn being their starter tonight is that they are kind of near the end of this run. They cannot pay everyone. And even if they do, it may not work.

Lance Lynn is obviously shell-shocked in the dugout. Feel a bit bad for him but no so much for the Dodgers.

Question for everyone rooting against the Dodgers - aren't they what you wish the Sox could be? A team with strong homegrown talent and financial muscle to fill in the gaps? Don't get the hate.

@E5 Yaz isn't here and Penelope Cruz is just flying all over the place again. He will be so disappointed that he missed it and won't get another opportunity fly with her.

I think it's because the Dodgers have been so dominating the past eleven seasons. If it were the Red Sox who were this dominant, it'd be a different story.

Bummer that all these warm weather teams are advancing. I like to see a couple cold weather cities playing in the series. Philly is the last hope.

Speaking as someone who lives in LA. The dodgers have had amazing REGULAR SEASON success. And outside of the 2020 Covid year. The dodgers have done almost nothing in the playoffs

2023: NLDS down 2-0 to DBacks

2022: lost NLDS 3-1 to Padres

2021: lost NLCS 4-2 to Braves

2020: won WS 4-2 against Rays

2019: lost NLDS 3-2 to Nationals

2018: lost WS 4-1 to Red Sox

2017: lost WS 4-3 to Astros

2016: lost NLCS 4-2 to Cubs

IMO that 2020 “season” saved a lot of peoples jobs in the dodgers front office (and Roberts job)

they dont win in 2020 and i am 99% positive Roberts is not managing the dodgers today.

we also have to remember for a good portion of this decade the AL west had like one other team that had a record greater than 500 on a consistent basis.

As someone without rooting interests, the Diamondbacks are more fun.

Also my main hope for the postseason at this point is that a Texas team doesn't win it, so I want whatever club the NL sends to be good. LA has not looked good.

Costas sucks so bad. They could replace him with A.I. and nobody would notice.

I'm a Masshole living in San Francisco. Rooting in any capacity for the Dodgers just feels dirty. That said, many of their players & their manager (Dave Roberts forever and ever and ever) are former WS winners with the Sox so always happy for them. Also, anyone who doesn't love Mookie Betts probably isn't a true baseball fan.

Phuck Philly

let’s go Dodgers , fight back
Yeah I know a lot of people don't want them there but as far as cold weather goes they're the only ones left. I wouldnt cry if the Dodgers got dumped but would be weird to see them get swept. Wsa hoping for Minn but oh well.

REALLY thought that was a homer.

And savant says it'd be out at 28/30 parks; only Arizona and Baltimore keep that ball in play.

The Astros I understand. No one wants that. Is there a reason to root against the Rangers? Or is this just a “fuck everything Texas” thing?

I don’t want to see snow in the World Series (unless it’s Fenway)

This is premature IMO

-They had a quiet offseason on purpose to likely land Ohtani for 500+M this offseason, although Ohtani's injury might change the equation, i still think Ohtani goes to the Dodgers.
-Julio Urias killed his career in September, he would have still been a decent option.
-Dustin May needed a 2nd Tommy John.
-Tony Gonsolin got worse over the year and needed Tommy John.
-Walker Buehler did not recover from his Tommy John in time this season.

With reasonable health and a proper offseason to refresh for a quality starter on top of Ohtani, now that they know Urias isn't an option, this rotation should be good again next October.

Buehler, Ohtani, offseason acquisition, May, several promising but raw AAA arms

To be fair, Dodgers/Braves/O’s had that huge idle days thing. This handicap is unsurm

You think they are nowhere near the end of their run. Mookie and Fredrick are on the wrong side of 30 and under contract for a while. I am comfortable saying that they will have to produce more at the margins - like a smaller market club tries to - to be successful going forward. They cannot pay everyone. If they get Othani, they still need pitching near-term, especially because of the issues you cite.

There's no reason to think the Dodgers, the receivers of Max Muncy and Justin Turner, won't be able to work at the margins.

Tangential point - Mookie's OPS in nearly 250 postseason ABs now is under 720 - pretty crazy.
