Sabonis was bad, but on the flip side it also took monster games from Fox and Monk (do NOT count on the latter every night) and the energy of playing a home playoff game for the first time in a million years to squeak out a win over GS. Should be a really tight series.

It is a day ending in Y. He is the reigning "best bad player." Incredible talent but...
Randle wasn’t himself with his ankle. If it were a regular season game he likely wouldn’t have even played. Similar to Jaylen in that regard. The Knicks took advantage of opportunity’s to get downhill on their secondary break. I’d look for Cleveland to make an adjustment in this are, make a few shots and win G2.

Also worth noting that while Sabonis missed some very makeable shots, the Warriors defense against him was also very good.

I replayed that incident a couple of times. Dray boxed out Sabonis, who pushed on him, and they both fell. It also looked innocent when they got up. Not a dirty play by Green (this time).

What a game. Sacto fans are great. They deserved the win. Scintillating shotmaking by Fox to answer the Splash Bros.
Nothing definitive from the TV angle but it looks incidental at first and then for he either slips or butt blocks Sabonis from getting back up. Given the man's reputation... I now where I'd put my money.

So crazy that the Lakers easily could have Caruso and Monk right now.
The Lakers were fortunate to have him in the first place when the market somehow dried up on him as a FA two years ago. He had really taken a nice leap his last year or two in Charlotte, continued that in LA, but the Lakers hands were tied by only being able to offer him $6.5m last summer so they would have needed Monk to somehow get stonewalled two years in a row by FA to retain him.

Green did exactly what he’s supposed to do in that spot by not allowing Sabonis back into the play defensively. Not sure what he’s being criticized for doing.

Ah yes, they teach that at every youth bball camp. If you fall on the floor entangled with another player briefly try to get back up before purposefully sitting back on the player. Basketball 101.

Yeah this isn’t youth ball though. To prevent him from getting back into the play on the final potential game winning play in an NBA playoff game is the objective in this spot 100%.

Yeah, Draymond did what he should do here to try to get an edge, and the ref should have called a foul on him for sitting back down on a guy to stop him from getting up.

The issue isn't Draymond; it's the NBA's enabling of Draymond. I will maintain to my death that the Cs win the 2022 Finals if the league officiates him like they do anyone else pulling that shit.

Good for him for winning, I guess, but also fuck him; he sucks to watch.

Meh he did a good job not making it obvious in the moment knowing no ref is going to blow their whistle there unless it was. Smart would do the same thing 10 out of 10 times and be applauded for it. Green never gets enough credit for what he brings to that team on both ends of the floor.

The sitting back down on someone after the initial fall is 100% a foul that should be called. But it often isn’t. And that’s especially true last 30 seconds

I also couldn’t tell on the replay whether Sabonis pulled him back down or not there.

Draymond is the dirtiest player in the league, should be assumed to be cheating absent clarity he isn’t in anny play with a question…and I still can’t get too worked up about the non call there.

Also-Draymond didn’t hustle back so he wasn’t even in frame for the critical rebound

Sabonis pulled him down, and they let it play on. Draymond didn't let Sabinos up, and they let it play on. If you don't call the first infraction on Sabonis, it is totally legit to let Draymond's go

I will die with you, that moment in Game 2 where the refs let him tackle one of the C's (can't recall who) telegraphed to the whole world that it was going to be that way.

But GS will also need more from guys who aren't Curry. He's incredible but they would have lost the game earlier in the 4th if he doesn't do Curry stuff.

Grant? (Note Green followed this up by running over JB on a 3P shot later in the game).

Green should definitely have been thrown out of this game.. announcers praised him for his gamesmanship and 'getting in the heads' of the C's.. but the reality was he tried to injure Jaylen at least once and was allowed to play by an entirely different set of rules the entire game. It's like any other times in sports where the rules are changed in the playoffs.. and only really for one player. No other player was allowed to be that physical or reckless... and actually created a situation where the refs tried to clamp down to get back control.. since they didn't do what they should have done in the first place..which is throw Draymond out of the game. Set a precedent for his behavior for the rest of the series.

If draymond is sucking (and the beginning of that series he was) he always pulls that type of shit.
Basically he dares the refs to throw him out. If they do throw him out, he wasnt playing that well anyway and maybe he can spark the team. If they don’t throw him out, he knows he can get away with pretty much anything and he can effectively play football out there

I’m still pissed that the refs didn’t throw out Artest for slamming Pierce to start the Finals in 2010.

In hindsight, Grant should have squared up to throw fists with Green when he was bullied. Make the refs penalize non-basketball attacks.

Or when Wade broke Rondo's elbow..

Great job by Bane grifting those FTs. Wish the Celtics would do more of that stuff.

I hope Ja turns around the off-court bs because I still want to root for the kid. He's just so fun to watch.

Memphis’ two stars taking it to the Lakers in the first half of Game 1. JJJ took it to LBJ in the post. When Ja ran out, no one could handle him. 29 point on 20 shots for Ja and JJJ. Only 20 points on 20 shots for LBJ and AD, with only three FTs given up, none to AD. Nice contribution from Santi Aldama off the pine, with 6 points on 4 shots, and four rebounds in 11 minutes.
