I know which one you were talking about. Cardoso managed to foul TWO Iowa players on the same reach and didn't get called for either one.

Different game when Boston got called for her second so early and had to sit- on such a dumb, ticky tacky foul- but SC had the depth and physicality adavantage regardless. Superhuman by Clark and also Czinano inside. She went toe to toe with 2-3 players her size or bigger all night and she got the better of it for 40 minutes.
Yes. Not sure about defensively but her offensive game is better. And that, obviously, is high praise.
She makes plays. Ionesco made anti-plays.

Czinano had the same foul trouble. Amazing she didn't foul out, but it did help lead to SC having more offensive rebounds than Iowa had defensive rebounds.!
Iowa made all 14 of their FTs. SC missed 4 of 13...in a 4 pt game.
They left #25 wide, wide open in order to pack the lane with as many bodies as possible. Certainly helped them in terms of the SC bigs not getting very good shots, but rebounding-wise, didn't help much. And 25 hit 3 three pointers.

I dont agree that this would be better in a larger venue. It would be better for gate revenue but the TV product is way better in the more intimate building.
The sponsorship hierarchy point was a great one though.
You could probably co host the events in a city with an NBA arena and a domed NFL stadium though, even if you don't want to do a single venue setup. But that's not many cities, right?

I can maybe see moving the final Four one week forward to “compete” (weekend, not days) with hockey instead and have it be during week 2 of mlb and not the opening week and a different week from men’s.
Let’s be real, women’s basketball is not going to be even with the men, that’s not a knock against the ladies, that’s just a feature of speed and power.
I’m saying this as someone who likes finesse and likes us women’s soccer (college and pro and international) much much more than the men’s but that’s largely because of relative US competence.
nothing is holding women’s basketball back and it’s doing very well.
I assume the NCAA makes a call to the refs by halftime. No one wants to watch the benches battle it out in the 4th quarter of a championship game.
These officials are in serious jeopardy of fucking up this game with ticky tack fouls called on stars
Wow, the refs really have taken steam out of this game. watching the "Bird Taurasi (ESPN) show during the game.. not a big fan of the side talk distracting from the game. Back to ABC
