Amazing break from Medvedev and even more impressive to have such a strong service game immediately afterwards.

Medvedev's serve abandoned him in the last game, but what a performance. by Medvedev. He really dominated most of the match

Same thing happened to Medvedev when he was serving out the 2021 US Open with the double faults, although he had a huge lead on that day.
After they screwed him (and others) at Wimbledon in 2022, I will always have a soft spot for Medvedev.

Really dislike watching Medvedev, that backboard style puts me to sleep. He could definitely win again on Sunday though, he is incredible on hardcourts.

Djokovic and Alcaraz are a combined 40-0 in Grand Slams this year against the rest of the world, 1-1 against each other.
So they finished the year a combined 41-1, the 1 Medvedev’s superhuman effort tonight.

And 25-0 of that is Djokovic (Alcaraz missed Australia), so a 26-1 year with 1 to go. That seems good.

I don't think it was much a question before anyways but this win definitely solidifies Med in his own tier below Novak and Alcaraz. It's pretty congested in the 4-12 range right now. I have a hard time seeing any of them becoming real contenders for a major.

Really a blue balls tournament, we were one win away from all of these and instead we got none:

Swiatek/Gauff quarter, nope.
Alcaraz/Sinner quarter, nope.
Djokovic/Tiafoe semi, nope.
Djokovic/Alcaraz final, round 4 of 2023, nope.

Good finals though, Coco will have to play so much better than she did in the semis but she is capable of that.

Coco-Azarenka is the matchup to watch out of the two
I am so glad I was able to experience Djokovic-Alcaraz in Cincy - weird stuff can happen at majors

It was a bit petty of Novak to taunt an unranked 20-year-old who Novak struggled to put away.
This is why nobody likes him. And then all his fans come around with "how come nobody likes him? It's all so unfair! Insert wild theory here!", and are seemingly oblivious to how much and how often he's a gratuitous asshole.

I signed up for a free trial of FuboTV to be able to watch this...Spectrum and Disney are in some battle and ESPN is blacked out.

The announcers are right that Sabalenka is one-dimensional. If she can’t simply over-power you she doesn’t really have a Plan B.

Absolutely, and so many of her opponents cannot recognize that or adjust to it...Coco has done both supremely well in the second and third sets.

It’s tough to crap on her style too much because she’s won a slam and will be number 1 in world playing this way…but she could be far better than she already is I think.
