That would have been insane (Rickie hole-ing the bunker shot)

He's been the best player in the world for over a year now and I still can't get over Scottie's feet. Every shot I think he's going to fall down.

Rickie makes birdie after driving it into the barranca. He needs a par on 9 (a par 3) for the US Open scoring record of 62. Birdie would break the all-time major scoring record.

The length of the first two rounds of the US Open, coupled with the coverage, really is a treat for golf fans.

It's 12.5 hours of golf a day for two days.

I had to Google if Brian Harman was on LIV because I don’t think I’ve seen him hit a golf shot on television in the last year. Good to see him doing well.

Am I alone not enjoying watching golfers on an easy, easy course (at least where it’s set up today and the weather) put up crazy low scores?

As of right now it has the 2nd lowest scoring average of recent US Open's. Only Erin Hills was easier.

I think it's fun, it's different than just bomb and gauge.

I’d much rather watch this than the boring slop fest at Winged Foot.

This is pretty much what everyone predicted. Low scores are out there, but if you're off by a hair the next round will be in the 70's.

And it's Thursday. They'll tuck pins, tip out the 3's and get the greens as fast as they can as the tournament progresses. This isn't going to be a -24 wins at the Amex type deal.

God I can't wait for the front right pin on 15. Also Johnson Wagner on Live From earlier this week said todays pin on 14 is his favorite on the whole course.

DJ is providing the carnage on 2. Drove it into the rough, hacked out but stayed in the rough, hit his 3rd to the barranca.

He has now taken 5 shots (including a penalty) and has not reached the putting surface.

Edit: So of course, let's go to commercial and we'll fill you in on the rest when we come back!

Guys are starting to go through 14 and it is definitely cool. There's going to be a lot of balls in the front left section which is going to lead to super cool and creative chips. Wyndham Clark hit a ridiculous flop shot from the front left rough. Rory is in the bunker now, Brooks is on the green/fringe but probably can't putt it to the hole.

For the carnage cravers, it's probably here today and tomorrow.
So, through 60ish percent of the first wave today for the featured groups, carnage isn't the right word. There are birdies out there but the misses are being punished much more severely today than yesterday. If they get out of position, they are making bogey or worse. The greens are getting firm.
