Ha. Don’t disagree but he’s a call they have to make. But I think it’s Donovan then everyone else. They have a better chance of getting you than Jay Wright
I think that's a good call. Donovan makes sense, and he's just treading water in ChicagoHa. Don’t disagree but he’s a call they have to make. But I think it’s Donovan then everyone else.
Hadn't they just publicly proclaimed that Calipari was safe at UK for another year? Maybe the fans wanted to murder him but the administration had his back.lol at piggy paying to take a guy Kentucky wanted to murder
He’s 65, and pounced on a perfect opening for him. Left on his terms. So, did Cal leave bc of the fan pressure/gaze? And took the Arkansas job? I don't follow men's as much as I used to but this seems surprising.

I don't see Hurley leaving UConn. He's had no problem getting the talent there necessary to compete for championships, so it's not like Kentucky is providing him with advantage he doesn't already enjoy. And his dad was not a "chase every dollar" guy, but the type of guy who stayed one place and built it into someplace special rather than hop from job to job. If Dan has any of his dad in him, he'll stay at UConn and eventually get a statue and the court/fieldhouse named after him after winning several more championships.Fine. Anyone but Dan Hurley is ok with me.
Ok this seems smart and what many coaches lack. Betting on yourself and knowing when to jump ship. He’s 65, and pounced on a perfect opening for him. Left on his terms.
John Tyson is leading the largest NIL pool in CBB! Wooo Pig Soooie! Hermann's is happy. Muss Bus turns into Cal Cadillac.I hope the Tysons and Waltons pony up for the NIL money too.
A lot more people care about it, fair or not.I cannot fathom why Dan Hurley would leave UConn for Kentucky. UConn has been a much, much better college basketball program for the last 25 years. In part due to Hurley, but not just that. Unless they just absolutely overwhelmed him with $$. Which, I suppose, would be the plan.
A lot more people care about Kentucky basketball than UConn basketball? I guess. But I mean, UConn sells out every home game and they win a ton, so....ok?A lot more people care about it, fair or not.
This all makes sense to me. It would be Calhoun 2.0. Unfortunately, there does seem to be one thing that makes coaches move and always needs to be worried about a little bit.I don't see Hurley leaving UConn. Plus check his resume:
Attended Seton Hall (where he met his wife)
St. Anthony's High School (Jersey City) assistant
Rutgers assistant
St Benedict's Prep (Newark, NJ)
Wagner
Rhode Island
UConn
I don't see him and his wife leaving the Northeast.
I believe he meant a lot more people care about money. It’s a correct take. But Hurley is already making 6M plus a year. I don’t think UK will through a bag at him big enough that;A lot more people care about Kentucky basketball than UConn basketball? I guess. To me, that's the only temptation that might have him leaving UConn. I agree that UConn could/would match, or at least come close enough to not make it worth moving, whatever Kentucky or any other school offered. But if he has an itch to go up to the next level, he'll leave at some point if the situation is correct. But I wouldn't be surprised if even that would take one of the bigger jobs opening up.I believe he meant a lot more people care about money. It’s a correct take. But Hurley is already making 6M plus a year. I don’t think UK will through a bag at him big enough that;
1) UConn won’t match
and/or
2) Big enough to entice him to make a lateral move at best.
Sure, it could happen. I don’t think it will. I think DH will be at UConn until he retires or wants to try out the NBA. I don’t think either of things will be happening soon.
They are. Cal is getting anywhere from 5-7 million in NIL per year.I hope the Tysons and Waltons pony up for the NIL money too.
There's discussion of this in the Celtics forum, FYI.For some reason I follow a lot of Kentucky fans on Twitter and they say it’s the brinks truck for Brad or Oats. As a Brad Celtics guy, wth? Why would Brad take that job? I assume this is delusional wishful thinking.
He’ll try like hell to win next year no question. But I think the team is looking at a year or two of being down. Karaban will be the only returning starter if he comes back, which I think he willIf UConn wins tonight, I dont think there’s any scenario where Hurley leaves. I don’t think he’d pass up a shot at being the only guy other than John Wooden to get three in a row.
If UConn loses tonight, I think it will be a serious conversation, but my money would be on him staying.
Andrea will not want to live in Lexington, KY that is for sure.If UConn wins tonight, I dont think there’s any scenario where Hurley leaves. I don’t think he’d pass up a shot at being the only guy other than John Wooden to get three in a row.

Not really tracking this, suddenly the money or lure of UK is irrelevant if they win on the off chance they somehow win a third next year? And by this logic, wouldn’t he look to leave UConn for UK at the next opportunity starting next year?If UConn wins tonight, I dont think there’s any scenario where Hurley leaves. Normally yes, but nothing is illegal anymoreWhen Cal leaves, I always assume it's because there are sanctions coming.
That's a big part of my belief that he's staying as well. To me, his whole resume reads "we're not leaving the Northeast until if ever...(probably her/his parents pass, and maybe other family considerations)"Andrea will not want to live in Lexington, KY that is for sure.
Hurleys speech on podium wasn’t too far off from this
To this point:Andrea will not want to live in Lexington, KY that is for sure.
John Tyson probably took him on a tour of Springdale instead of Beaver Lake or Bella Vista or Wilson Park.View attachment 80862
How Calipari arrived to the press conference. Questions had not begun. He just looks miserable. Heaven forbid he just retires.
I spent a month in Ft Smith, Arkansas due to the Air Force. Only state I have driven thru that had massive potholes on the highway. Even worse, the strip clubs were topless only.John Tyson probably took him on a tour of Springdale instead of Beaver Lake or Bella Vista or Wilson Park.
This could get humbling real quickly for UKScott Drew reportedly turns down offer to take over in Lexington.

The catch is he can’t leave just yet. Are they willing to wait until the Bulls are done?It has to be Donovan. Why stay in purgatory with the Bulls until he gets fired?
It's probably just a week, but, yeah, that could complicate things. The catch is he can’t leave just yet. Are they willing to wait until the Bulls are done?
It seems silly but a week is an eternity in these things. I’d wait for him though. It's probably just a week, but, yeah, that could complicate things.

UK has ended among the top five of the 247Sports Composite team rankings every year since Calipari's arrival. Only once have the Wildcats not been among the top two: In 2022, when they were No. 5.
