To be fair, he's at 38 minutes right now. Some of it is probably fatigue, he's been an engaged defender most of the season and has even cut down on the ref bitching.
Brown doesn’t have this problem. I love Tatum. But his inconsistency is a real fault.

tatum looks absolutely exhausted
He's played 59/62. Isn't he pretty close to the mandatory minimum? I hope they invent a 10 game ankle roll or something soon. This is the same story year to year - he needs rest getting into the playoffs.

My guess is Tatum isn't playing in Portland.
0 reason for him to

maybe he claims its helps his rhythm/overall play/something else but he has unlocked the supermax already. the fo and coaching staff have to step in here at some point.

I hate this type of replay, even if we get it. Reminds me of the stupid offsides reviews in NHL.

Not to point out KD specifically, but I always find it funny when an offensive player complains about another player using a move they always do. He complained JT hooked him, then immediately hooked someone on the next play to get to the bucket

I am a zealot about this exact thing. Get rid of OOB replays and just always call it OOB on the player who was the impetus for forcing the ball out.

My favorite unwritten rule is when a guy guys over the back to try to grab a rebound, inside defender goes up, both guys tip it out of bounds and they agree not to call the over the back foul in exchange for giving the ball to the inside position player.

It's strange how most of these defensive swipes are technically off the offensive player last. This has been true forever, yet now with replay the league (and refs) are in an awkward spot.

All of these plays feel like they should be off the defense, but when you look frame by frame it's usually off the offense.

Nice challenge by the Celtics staff and I expect that type of thing to continue. But I do wonder if there is some way the NBA can make the rule reflect what pretty clearly happened on the court.

Right, because he's at 33 minutes while Jayson is at 40.
Tatum himself just admitted he stunk tonight. Maybe it is minutes. If it is. Sit him for a while. These games mean nothing. Organization needs to play the long game. Regardless, Tatum is inconsistent - given the baseline I am talking about is the other MVP level players. It might not matter this year because we are so stacked, but he is. He has games where he is irrelevant.

I don't mind these. It's problematic when it happens in the closing minutes, if the defender hits the ball carrier's arm and the ball pops out of bounds. The refs give the ball back to the offense live (because it's an unspoken rule to not call those sorts of touch fouls in the final minutes, the compromise being that the offense will retain possession), but when they review in slow motion they are unable to call the foul, and have to just call what they can - that is, that the ball clearly goes off the offensive player.

Since that didn't happen here (JB stripped him clean), I have no problem with it. Back to back big games with JB forcing a huge turnover in the closing seconds. This version of Brown (averaging an efficient 28 ppg with lockdown on ball defense) is absolutely an all-NBA player, and will help us navigate any injuries or Tatum slumps.

I love the love the players show eachother after the game, even though I know a lot of old heads HATE it
To me it makes the couple instances of them actually having total contempt for someone that much more meaningful.

They're all business partners, really. Except for THAT guy, he sucks.
