I need Campbell to keep making highlights at the plate because his swing reminds me of someone, like a very famous possibly Hall of Fame player and I cannot recall who.

I had heard in all of the usual places that he was turning heads in camp, and now I see that the HR he hit was 113 mph EV!?!?!? From an up-the-middle defender with plus bat-to-ball skills!?!?!? At age 21?!?!?

Holy shit.

Campbell projects more as a corner outfielder than anything, but yeah, low k-rates. Doesn't turn 22 until June & raked last season after being drafted, both in FCL & in High-A, including carrying the offense in the championship playoff run for Greenville.

This still feels like it’s underselling him. Low k rates, high walk rates, great in zone contact, and just posted an EV that (if accurate…, which may be a big if) is higher than any batted ball the Red Sox hit last year.

Hard to hit a ball 450 feet without hitting it pretty hard, but yeah, wasn't trying to downplay the in-zone contact & walks (29 bb to 17 k in college). Was more questioning his up-the-middle viability.

But you're preaching to the choir. I had him 25th in October when SP had him 48.

No Teel, Rosario or Johanfran in their respective lineups today. I can only assume they are all sitting on a Zoom call right now having a super informative live teaching session with Willard et al.

Like Coffey, Sandlin also struck out the 1st batter he faced this season.

But Noah Dean waited until his 2nd hitter for his 1st k.

Uwasawa has settled down a bit, 1-2-3 3rd including striking out the guys who hit the triple & homer in the 1st. Even though the last one took 10 pitches.

Noah Dean had a more Noah Dean-y 2nd.

Is being the director or camera operator for a minor league game like really, really difficult? This broadcast for the Portland game is fucking atrocious.

Remind me which deal Sandlin came in?

For reasons unknown, possibly osmosis from reading these posts, I keep wanting to call these guys Norma Jean (Noah Dean), Sandman, and Sir Isaac Coffey. I might be cross-eyed and/or in dire need of sleep.

Sandlin's final line:

2.2 IP

3 ER
4 hits
2 bb
5 k's

But he's throwing 100, so that's fun.

Kelly pitched 2 scoreless, hitless innings, walking 1 & striking out 2.

Cam Booser struck out the side in the 8th.

WooSox down 3-2 top 9.

Hickey starts off the inning with a walk. But Bobby Dalbec struck out. He's 0-4 with 2 k's. I guess if Romy can only help one of these teams win, it might as well be Boston.

Mark Contreras sent the pinch runner (Kolozsvary) to 3rd with a 1-out single.

Jamie Westbrook reaches on catcher's interference to load the bases for Eddy Alvarez.

But Alvarez popped out to SS on a pitch right down the heart of the plate, leaving it up to Dalton Guthrie... who struck out on 3 pitches.

Worcester loses 3-2.

Hickey was 1-3 with a homer & a walk.

Contreras was 2-4 with a double.

Sogard was 1-4 with a homer.

Rob Refsnyder struck out all 3 times up in the 1st game of his rehab assignment.

This Worcester lineup is rough...OPS leaders among the 12 players who played today...

1) Hickey .952
2) Heineman .646

Phillip Sikes was 2-4.

Tyler McDonough was 0-0 with 3 walks.

Mayer was 1-4 & Roman was 0-3 with a walk.

Sena came in & allowed 1 run in 2.1 IP on 2 hits & 2 walks, striking out 4.

& then Jonathan Brand, who I thought pitched an inning yesterday but it was actually Sunday & I only wrote about it this morning, came in & pitched 3 perfect innings, striking out 3.

In 3 games this season Brand...

5 IP
0 runs
0 hits
0 walks
8 k's
