Yah know, I can watch a .450 baseball team that at least plays reasonably ok baseball. But FFS last year really tested my patience with the horrible defense and sporadic hitting. Since Trevor Story went down last week this team has just fallen apart. If they don’t get their shit together soon I will, for the first time since Bobby Dickface Valentine coached the team, find something else to do with my summer nights.
Where’s the meat of this order? After Duran, you have Reyes for an easy out. After Casas, you have a lamb in Dalbec.
fully agree. Losing is fine, losing while playing worse than my sons 13 year old team is not.

I get that. But for me Janeway is a top three Captain, with TNG Picard (NOT Picard series Picard. Who sucks) and Sisko. The Doctor is great, and even though the reasons she was brought on were very cynical, Seven is still amazing.
Well maybe. But if I'm him, knowing that whatever I put up there, even if it results in a simple grounder, is not assured of being an easy out -- thats gonna affect my pitching. And that is another consequence of bad D.
The Red Sox have a higher XBA in this game than Anaheim does: a .485 XBA has yielded 3 hits, while Anaheim's .386 has yielded 8 hits and a ton of errors.

Strike 4 on O’Neil. Which brings up another thing, these guys don’t seem to defend the plate with two strikes. I know I’m complaining a lot tonight, but the lack of fundamentals is just starting to get old.
FWIW, I do think about 75% of the defensive shit is mental- which to me is all about preparation and focus. That’s on Cora.
Shoutout to B'Elana, who hangs in there in the crowded ranks of ST chief engineers. And Tuvok, who is is quite possibly the first Lawful Evil Vulcan we got. Good characters that deserved better plots and story arcs than they got.
With the crowds, lineup and the relatively disinterested play, these feel like mid September games.
September was absolutely horrible for this team. And this homestand has been like September revisited, but only with worse defense.
We saw this team play 10 good games on the road. I know there are injuries, but that same team should not be THIS bad at home. Losing would be one thing, but they are just giving away so many runs, and are so uncompetitive at the plate, it's way beyond just losing.

My biggest disappointment in the off-season was the retention of Cora.
I can't even picture them scoring tonight. How could it happen? Someone hits a grounder down one of the lines for a double and someone else knocks him in with a seeing eye single? Someone gets ahold of one? The Angels make a series of miscues?
Yeah, agree that he plays big role in the focus and mental toughness
Also, Cora is one constant over the years or horrid defense. He’s certainly not helping

What's the argument for not bringing him up? That he'll be overmatched and will be mentally ruined?
Hock is going to need to stay in for at least 5 IP no matter what. 6 would have been much better.
