So, as part of that, can we start a 12 game win streak as part of a 12 step program? Today, in a game in which we face a pitcher who hasn't given up a run yet, and a team which hasn't lost a game yet, let's go all Poland vs Germany, with a reverse outcome of course.Today is the first day of the rest of the season.
I mean this in a good way.
Why not? Let’s go Bobby Specs!1. Dalbec - LF
2. Dalbec - 3B
3. Dalbec - DH
4. Dalbec - SS
5. Dalbec - 2B
6. Dalbec - C
7. Dalbec - RF
8. Dalbec - 1B
9. Dalbec - CF
Lol, the actual line up ended up not being significantly better than this.1. Dalbec - LF
2. Dalbec - 3B
3. Dalbec - DH
4. Dalbec - SS
5. Dalbec - 2B
6. Dalbec - C
7. Dalbec - RF
8. Dalbec - 1B
9. Dalbec - CF

2. Dalbec - 3B
3. Dalbec - DH
4. Dalbec - SS
5. Dalbec - 2B
6. Dalbec - C
7. Dalbec - RF

5. Dalbec - 2B
6. Dalbec - C
7. Dalbec - RF
8. Dalbec - 1B
9. Dalbec - CF
Well, this is just nuts. Devers hits Springs well. There's no reason he shouldn't be DHing. "Travel day" or not.
Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! A true masterpiece.Game 13
Remember how we played before
against Detroit and Baltimore.
Those days of yore were lots of fun.
Against those teams, we’re 5 and 1.
Pirates and Rays are in the mix.
Against those teams, we’re 0 and 6.
Here’s a theory. (It’s quite absurd)
We’re great against a cat or bird,
but seem to struggle mightily
with teams whose names come from the sea.
Wait! Of late, the Rays have begun
to claim that they come from the sun.
Remember that and break the curse.
Show we’re not dead. Escape the hearse.
It’s game thirteen. For them – bad luck!
Let’s show the league we give a F*@#!
Sadly, I am pretty sure this is what it will be.Either that or it's going to be a VERY miserable viewing experience today.
Chang bunted for a base hit (presumably on his own)Did Cora end up explaining the bunt in the ninth last night?
I can't say you should tune into any particular game it if it's going to raise your blood-pressure or anything, but, big picture, all the games are part of the story of the Red Sox. And personally, I think that the overall experience of following them would be less satisfying for having skipped out on games (or seasons even) where they were underdogs.Personally, I'm not going to tune in to watch this club potentially/probably drop a fourth game to Tampa.
He was in the original lineup yesterday but was lifted due to a sore hamstring I believe.Refsnyder in the 3-hole... how did it come to this?!
Weird that Yoshida can't crack the lineup for the second game in a row. I know there's a lefty on the mound, but is he that useless against them?

A day game in a horrible park brings back memories of end-of-road-trip midweek day games in Oakland that usually go badly.-Personally, I'm not going to tune in to watch this club potentially/probably drop a fourth game to Tampa.
RHP closing - Bench was Refsnyder, Arroyo, and Yoshida - with hamstring soreness.Chang bunted for a base hit (presumably on his own)

Devers was going to sit one of these games. It's something they frequently do during series on turf (especially four game series). They also are now six days into a 19 games in 19 days stretch. They want to get everyone a day off. Casas got his day on Tuesday. Arroyo got his yesterday. Devers goes today. I expect Verdugo (who, like Devers, hasn't missed an inning yet) or Kike will sit tomorrow, with the other resting one day on the weekend.Well, this is just nuts. Devers hits Springs well. It also makes yesterday's Dalbec decision look patently insane. I thought Arroyo might have some undisclosed injury or something.
While that seems reasonable, they also need to adapt and actually win games. Devers is their biggest bat and most credible power threat at this point. They have two other 3B players in Dalbec and Turner. It is their most massive redundency, and they should use it.Devers was going to sit one of these games. If this team hadn't lost three in a row then this would make perfect sense. The reality is that this isn't a team that is winning and it can't afford to throw away games, even in April. Cora has continually put out lineups like this and it was fine in 2018, but this team is going nowhere but last place managing like this.Devers was going to sit one of these games. Unfortunately, I think the operating theory is that DHing for a day isn't really a true day off, and that it doesn't have the intended effect of actually giving the player a rest. While that seems reasonable, they also need to adapt and actually win games. So, DH Devers twice - or three times - and start Turner or Dalbec at 3B on the other days. But get Devers in all the games. (If someone else were blisteringly hot, that would be another story, but no one is, except maybe Verdugo - so DH him as well instead of sitting him.)
I really think it's more to do with Cora codling players. Whether that codling pays dividends is something that's hard to measure.Unfortunately, I think the operating theory is that DHing for a day isn't really a true day off, and that it doesn't have the intended effect of actually giving the player a rest.
