Just my opinion as a non-audiophile....I bought a pair of Klipsch s5i headphones and I hate them. The sound is not as great as they say it is and the buds constantly fall out of my ear because the stupid button device is huge. It weighs down the headphones and constantly pulls them down.

Nice! I have to wait another week for shipment. I wonder if Samsung bribed VZW into the whole data plan thing. They are selling a shitton of these things.

Don't you think that the S3 is really big? I'm seriously concerned about how big it is (yeah yeah, that's what she said.)

I read a bunch of reviews about the S4As and for the most part they were not favorable. Lots of people seem to have issues with the app and/or the buttons working properly. I was about to order a pair (on sale for $55 or so on Amazon) but I held off for now based on the reviews.

Minor tech question about the Evo. The email text doesn't wrap to fit the screen. I have to scroll right and left to read pretty much every email. I went through the settings but I don't see anything. Is this something wrong with the stock app? Or am I just an idiot? Or both?

Just got my SIII via Fedex, went to activate it and it didn't work, so I had to speak to a Verizon representative. Apparently their system isn't set up to activate SIII's with an unlimited plan, so they put me "temporarily" on a 2GB plan until they put the paperwork through to keep my unlimited plan. Sounds a little sketchy, but I have a few confirmation numbers and emails so I'm not too worried about it. I'm sure I'm not the only person who went through this, so I bet Verizon is going to go crazy with all the people calling in about this issue.

Great, can't wait to do that later...

How does that make sense? Shouldn't the unlimited plan be in the background, independent of your choice of phone? Weird.

Thanks for the heads up. Will hold off activating my Siii until they iron this out; I've already spent too much time on the phone with VZW over the past month.......

Were you one of the people that they allowed to upgrade early?

I haven't read anything about others having trouble. But people whose renewal was pulled in my customer service have been saying they can't activate until the 10th.

Hopefully will all be ironed out by Tuesday, which is apparently now the official release day.

Since I am your tech support guy, I did a little research for you. From what I can tell it's an issue with the stock e-mail app. The cynics say its because Google wants you to use GMail. So my advice would be to look for a different e-mail app.

That will be $200.

Damn it, Google. Corporations are so evil. I'll show them by continuing to use the stock app out of spite.

I see what you're trying to do here. You want free admission to the football league in exchange for your "research." Sorry, Edward.

But I will say that Mr. Yost is an above-average tech support human and everyone should send him their questions via PM.

so my galaxy s2 is completely dead. Battery charging icon flashes for a second when plugged in, then goes off. I can get into download mode when plugged in, but that's about it. Unfortunately i had rooted it and incremented my counter, so I have a jig and need to get it to zero to send into samsung for warranty. Anyone run into anything remotely similar and get help at like an att store or something? I think if i could get a working battery into the phone I'd be ok and able to use the jig. Happy to share my jig with anyone if they need it, btw.

It's completely coincidental that my fee and the cost of the league are the same.

That's what I said. It sounded like, since I was moving from 3G to 4G they had to change something on the account, so it wouldn't let the Verizon rep switch me over without manually filling out some form. It works and everything, but I'm going to have to keep a close eye on my account to make sure they switch me back to unlimited data.

No, I've been sitting on my upgrade for a month or two, and pre-ordered the SIII as soon as they announced it. As I was talking to the Verizon rep, she never mentioned anything about needing to wait until the 10th, but it definitely didn't sound like many people were having this issue. Maybe that's because I was one of the first to receive it? Not sure.

And... How do you like it?
Freakin' amazing. I don't have much to compare it to, since I've been using my original Incredible for the past two years, but it blows that phone away. Very, very fast, great screen (I'm already used to the size, which was the big issue I was worried about), and the camera seems to rival the iPhone's. Haven't charged it since yesterday evening, and the battery is at 75% with moderate use. Mlb.tv looks great on it. Haven't had any issues with it yet, so I've been pretty happy with it after one day of use.

I solved my problem by buying a replacement battery at Radio Shack, putting it in and using the jig to clear the yellow triangle, which worked great. Phone still doesn't charge so I have to return it to Samsung and hope they don't claim i screwed it up, but it at least shows no signs of ever being rooted, which is great.

If anyone ever needs a jig, just send me a PM, it was silly easy to use on a Samsung phone

If you have a yellow triangle on boot and a samsung phone, it can be made to go away.

This would be especially targeted toward people who were trying to get early ICS builds on their phone with hacked bootloaders and what not. It's important because if you need warranty service, you can't send it in with the flash counter above 0.

Also useful if you've got a bricked phone, as it resets the flash counter and gets you into download mode where you can write software.

I recognize this is still nerd, but I can't really make it any less nerd speak.

Excellent. Thanks.

Do you think if I bitch enough, they'll let me keep the unlimited plan? I already 'agreed' to switch to the 2GB plan, so I'm guessing not.

Probably not. I'm pretty sure you had to pre-order before 6/28 to stay in there, and since you've already signed your new contract, you're probably SOL. Couldn't hurt to talk with them about it though. Worst that can happen is you're stuck with what you've got already.

Thanks, that's what I figured. So, as long as I'm connected to wifi, it doesn't go towards the data plan, right?

These earbuds might work for you, although they are wired.

http://www.klipsch.com/image-S4A-headphones
I ended up buying a pair of Philips that's compatible with Android. They actually work really well. All of the controls work so I basically can do everything that I could on an iPhone including volume and taking/ending calls. The sound quality isn't great but it's good enough for me. I recommend them if anyone is looking for affordable earphones with full controls.

Okay I have my phone.

I don't know how to open it to pop in the battery, nor do I have the faintest idea on how to activate it.

Its saying it came with a SIM card...is that what I think the battery is?

Please help me!

Do I take the SIM card from my Droid 2? WTF?

Jeez my mom is better at this stuff than you.

Your Droid 2 isn't 4G, so it doesn't have with a sim card.

There should be a little credit card type thing in the box with a little tiny card that you can snap out of it. That's the sim card. On my phone there is a slot for it behind the battery.

This phone is incredible. I'm coming from a Droid 2...its like going from a Ford Focus to an Aston Martin.

Question though, I used to run Task Killer, do I still need that? It looks like my phone runs a lot of things...

No.

ICS takes care of all that internally. Task Killers actually make things worse. Ditch it, and install Google Chrome as your browser ASAP.

Plus your phone has way, way more power than it needs to runs apps and stuff. The days of task killers are over.

Zomp, hold down the home button on the S3. Built-in task-manager.

I also came from a droid 2 to the s3....you're right. But I'd go more with the '87 Oldsmobile Station Wagon to a new aston martin.

I got a rock (IOW, July 10, and no Siii shipping email. Plus, VZW acknowledged they have a glitch in their pre-order status page, so I can't even look it up myself to see if it's shipped).

EDIT: I typed too soon. Order Status now works for the Preorder Confirmation (but not for Order Number, as the page says it should):

Courier : FEDEX
Status:
Ship Date: 07/07/2012

Awesome, thanks for the tip. I'm falling more and more in love with this phone every day, the Google Chrome browser is unbelievable. I look at my old Incredible and just laugh.

Anybody have experience with Diztronic cases? I'm thinking of getting this one, in blue. Any alternatives would also be appreciated.

I haven't had a case on my SII the entire time I've had it and it still looks brand new. I've dropped it a couple of times with absolutely no marks. Samsung makes remarkably durable phones.
