5/5: Skubal vs. Cortes

Series finale vs. DET, another 1 PM start.

Tarik Skubal has been fantastic this year, only 21 hits allowed in his 6 starts (!!!). Oswaldo Cabrera has been ice-cold for a while after a hot start, Jon Berti will likely get a game today against the lefty and an opportunity for more time if he can contribute.

Lot of rain in the forecast too, wouldn’t mind this one getting rained out.

Berti is starting at 3B but Cabrera moves to 1B and Rizzo gets his first game off this season (to start anyway).

Weather still looks dubious but they plan to try to play through it.

Glad I'm not at this one. Great outing from Nestor, just ran out of gas a bit and the bullpen didn't help him out.

I like Soto.

Yay! Holmes gets the day off, NY sweeps the series, tomorrow is a deserved day off, Astros in town on Tuesday.

I meant to mention it in the first post, but this was NY's 4th try at going 10 games over .500 this year, they lost the first three.

Probably so, though down three with only three outs left, the Yankees potentially with six outs, and a game in Cleveland tomorrow, getting out of town now instead of waiting until whenever isn't the worst thing for Detroit. So maybe some mixed feelings there.

HOU has won 5 of their last 8 and Blanco has a 2.09 ERA (pitching in game 3), let's just take things one game at a time.

HOU will start three righties, hopefully Berti can keep playing some. He had a couple of big ABs today, a single that led to NY's 2nd run and a walk to lead off the inning where they broke the 2-2 tie.

Wow, Rizzo has insane splits so far this year, .900 OPS vs RHP and just .425 vs LHP.

Stanton has awesome numbers this year with RISP, 9 for 27 with 2 HRs and 14 RBIs, 1.127 OPS.
