By that logic a batter can’t take second on a throw that goes into the stands when running to first.

By that logic wouldn't a batter almost never get 2nd base when the ball goes out of play? The throw is going to always be made before the batter reaches 1st base.

Yeah I don’t get that rule at all

Actually, it's two bases from the pitch for an initial infield throw, so the umps got it right (I think). I have never seen that particular play before.

I think they just made up that rule, because it doesn't make any sense and if they're applying it now that means every time it's been ruled wrong in the past

That had to be a wrong ruling by the umpires right??
Unless there's a different rule for batters and other runners, which would also make no sense. I'm sure I've seen an outfielder airmail a throw out of play and runners got to advance an extra base.

I think the umps really fucked up there. NO need ot protest now but that is not a "two bases from where you start" as Lou said, no way.

It wasn't an infield throw, he was 10+ feet into the outfield when he made the throw.

Guys, it’s a 2 base error based on where runners were at time of pitch.

It was a squibber that barely cleared the infield. If the rule book has a different application on infield / outfield balls in play... that would better explain the missed call at least.
