I am sad not to see Whitlock. I tried, but there seems no way to get into Peacock other than coughing up six bucks and giving info. Why is mlb choosing to have fewer fans watch the game? They must be getting a boatload of money from NBC.
You already know the answer. It is the same reason there are commercials during the game. Baseball exists because of the commercials. It’s easy to think it is the other way around. But it isn’t.

Announcers say might be last Fenway AB. He's the 1st hitter of the 7th. While I hope it's his last PA, I'm not counting on Sox getting 9 in a row.

Can this be the end of the Whitlock starter experiment? I understand a #3-4 SP is more valuable on paper than a bullpen ace... but he's more of a #5 as a starter and an absolute bullpen ace.

Toronto could be swept at home by the Cubs. That helps. Not many guys on that team having a great season. Seattle is probably the tougher competition the rest of the way for that spot.
The good news is that Seattle, Houston and Texas play each other a billion times in the next month and a half. If the Sox take care of their own business, they have as good a shot as anyone.

Excellent at bat by Casas after staring at a pitch down the middle for a backwards K his last one. Easy to get jumpy after that. He's such a pro.

I like that Casas can start out down 0-2 in the count and still walk. We don't have many guys who are capable (Or willing) to do that.

Right now he certainly is.
I read a piece (Glob, I think) discussing how the travel (distance and time zones) and schedule (no regular Mondays off) are a bigger adjustment for him than the game itself.

Kevin Youkilis has Eternal Sunshine’d the word “use” out of his vocabulary. It’s just “utilize” now. For everything.

What a tag by Urias

edit: And a crap slide by Greene, Greene had it but somehow missed the bag with his lead hand

Credit where it’s due — the ump fucking nailed that call. They fuck up a lot but he hammered that one.

Jeterian play by Story. Legend.
Hell of a tag by Urias too.

Don't know if it was accidental or not, but he put the tag right on the bag and let the runner slide into it. Far more effective than all the reaching for the runner most players do these days.

Play even bigger now. Would have scored easily there if he's not trying to stretch a double.
