It wasn't a strike objectively or subjectively in any dimension. It also seemed like a make-up call for the top of the zone ball which could have easily been a strike by King earlier in the AB.

Junior Valentine deserves all the scorn he will get.
He already got a "makeup call" if you want to call it that on strike 1, ump called 2 balls strikes that ab

Usually umpires are pretty old before they have a serious negative rep. Valentine is way ahead of schedule, so we will get to complain about him for the rest of our lives. Good times.
Hopefully not, there's only so much longer MLB can hold off robot umps when we see blown call after blown call in real time and they already use them in the minors

Based on what I am seeing in the minor leagues, teams are allowed 2 or 3 challenges. I doubt Valentine could get close to the under on that one.

Will Flemming was complaining on the radio about how all of the calls have been going the Yankees’ way. If he’s bad, I’d want him to be bad both ways.
