Was gonna start the thread today, but happy to cede it to you.

I was going to confess that I have been down on this team for most of the season. I'm one of the negative nancies who thinks Bloom has put together a thoroughly mediocre team, by and large. The shitty defense, the mediocre starting pitching ,the offense going dark for days at a time, and the brain-dead play that happens too often basically made me think we were looking at a .500 season, give or take a few games. So far, they've been what I expected after last year's disaster and not enough reinforcements.

Prove me wrong! Win some games, make some noise, and make me eat my shitty, negative thoughts! I would LOVE to be wrong about everything a month from now and will happily eat crow if that happens.

(FWIW, there has been a lot to enjoy this year, too. They've been way more fun to watch than last year, and I can start to see how this team might come together and be a force in the next few years. Don't make me eat those words.)

If you told me last year that Chas would be their cleanup hitter, even once, I never would have believed you.

So far, the Sox have not played with much verve.
It’s time for our nosedive to take a swerve.
We’re in jeopardy. (like that show by Merv.)
Let’s go for the split, so we can preserve
our slim playoff dreams. Hope Sale can unnerve
their bats with his fastball and with his curve.
Feed on ‘stros pitching like it’s an hors d’oervre.
Knock them out of their park. Giv'em the scurv!

I always try to guess the last word. I got Verlander. I did not get scurv.

Thanks for playing (and reading!) I never know what rhyme I am going to use as the running theme.
Frankly, I am afraid I will run out of good ones. Today, I just stole "scurv" from the posts above mine.

Everyone wondering whether you're going the safe route with "Betts" or give yourself a challenge with "Mookie"

Inspiration can come from the strangest of places, after all. Keep up the good work!

That was Casas's 74th fly ball to left in this series
75th. He hit one when you were being a wise ass to those of us just trying to get our gamethread on.

Cora needs to call a team meeting in the dugout and tell the players to stop playing bad and play good. But he won't because he is a terrible manager who ruined baseball. Fire Bloom too!
