Miami (oh, Miami!)
Didn't see the game.

Looking at the box score, I am relieved to know we used all of our "B squad" pitchers in this one run classic Cora-punt.

Lest any Cora-lovers get tetchy, I will take your word ahead of time that there was absolutely nothing he could have done to win.

And, since we have unlimited games left to play, the "A squad" pitchers will be fresh to play all of those! Victory!!

Story is faster than you're giving him credit for
This. And with 2 outs, he should have gotten a great jump. Since when is down 1 in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs the time to play conservatively? Its when you want to see your team go balls to the wall, win or lose.

This. The bullpen has been bad, but bad bullpen management has cost them 4-5 games this season.
And this. Coras bullpen moves have become Grady-esque.

Llovera and Schreiber are two of the good bullpen guys now. Martin and Jansen were the only ones not used, but Jansen has been a bit crap since the injury. I don't know how much better than Jacques he would have been.

No. This is 1000% on. Sale. Your 25$ million dollar “ace” should not be giving up 7 runs and pitching less than 5 innings. His last start where he went more than 5 innings was in may. Almost 4 months ago!

and like clockwork during his post game interview Sale continues to be befuddled as to why he continues to pitch like crap

Sale: “I’m supposed to be something on this team and I’m not.”

“We were one starting pitcher away from winning. We scored 12 (expletive) runs. What is happening g?”
despite sale continuing to be befuddled about his pitching struggles, nothing has changed. At this point sale is a borderline 5th starter being paid like an ace.

You keep saying this, but it isn't a binary thing. Yes, Sale sucked. There was also a whole lot of game left to try to claw out a win.
I'm not really blaming Cora per se, but you're taking an overly simplistic view, much like when you love to post IT'S ON THE OFFENSE 100%!!!!

What’s happening is you suck Chris Sale. You are entitled to your guaranteed money, but the Red Sox should release you.

The Orioles are the first team to win a game allowing 23+ hits in 9 innings since the Cardinals on 6/3/1930.

This seems obvious, but ...

@SmittyOnMLB
Alex Cora agreed with Red Sox third base coach Carlos Febles not sending Trevor Story, the tying run with two outs in the ninth on Abreu's single to left. “That’s a tough one. Everybody wanted him to go but it was right there. Play catch with the catcher and get the guy out.”

Did I miss something happening to Winck?
There was an odd moment early in the game when they showed him throwing the ball. I wonder if he has an ouchie and decided to rest him. I always think Cora has a reason for what he does, but using Jacques late in the game seems unreasonable to me.
Yoshida has walked once this month.
4-6-3 by Yoshida? I really hope not..
The attacks on one of the best players on the team really crack me up. Abreu had an uncharacteristic night with five hits, despite all the moaning and groaning about his playing tonight, Devers had four hits and Yoshida had three.
Whatever. I saw the ninth inning this morning, and I was struck by how the Sox were playing. Not trying to do to much, one hit after another, keeping the line moving. Home runs are very nice, and I wish Story had hit one there, but this style of play can do much to win games if your pitching (Sale, Weiss, Llovera, Jacques) isn't abysmal.
