Winck has been able to get out of it most times, but his last few appearances have been these kind of long 20+ pitch innings with lots of base runners. He might be hitting a wall too.

Possible, and the Astros' skill at spoiling pitcher's pitches is a problem too.

Fastballs up over and over and over. He cannot get on top of those with his upper cut swing. Not sure why more teams don’t pitch him that way

They need to set Raffy up with a mental skills coach this winter or something, fuck.

His offensive production this year isn’t really much different than what he’s always done; he’s been a bit unlucky perhaps. His BB/K rates are about the same as last year.

I guess he’s got a bullseye on him now that he “got the bag” but his performance, at least offensively, is in line with prior years.

What just happened in the bottom of the 8th? I had to reply to one text, and looked up to see NESN going to a commercial.

Not if they trade him
I would give him away just to get rid of the contract, right now. Might even pay $25 million or something. I am hoping this becomes one of those “remember how stupid DDB was” posts but there it is.

It is insane how fast I went from being pumped they signed a young, franchise cornerstone for a decade to really, really dreading what the future of that contract looks like. I hope it's that he's been hurt or just pressing all year because he feels like he is the star and needs to do it all, and that he turns it around next year, but man, that could be a really bad one.

Ugly night for a pretty bad team.

All hope is lost and we can only be spoilers now. For God's sake, don't let the MFYs catch us.

When they signed him, I am pretty sure the one thing I posted here that gave me pause was about Alex having to bribe him with tacos to take pitches. It always was reported as an isn’t-this-cute story, and maybe it is. But it nagged at me and I think the question I asked tongue in cheek is what happens now that he makes 30 times as much as Alex and can buy a Taco Bell.

He’s a defensively challenged 3B with a 850-900 OPS. Same as he’s always been. Maybe he gets a bit better as he enters his prime, but I am really baffled as to what people are expecting.
